Loving Logan - Sammi Cee Page 0,31
right then and there. I’d known that pursuing Logan meant Jakey would be a part of my life, too. But until that moment, I hadn’t realized the possibilities that came with that. The chance to not only help Logan and be there for him, but that maybe this little human would depend on me and allow me to be a real part of his world, too.
With that revelation working itself out in the back of my mind, I read, clocking every twitch and quirk of Jakey’s face to make sure I didn’t screw up my first opportunity at truly integrating into their schedule. By the time I finished reading, Jakey was asleep. Logan took the book from me, and put it in the basket. Then he lifted his sleeping nephew. “I’ll be right back,” he whispered.
I slid farther down the bed and waited. He came back in and laid down with his head on my chest. I tossed my arm around his shoulders and slipped a leg between his. He nuzzled into my neck. “How about that?” he asked.
“It was”—I kissed the top of his head—“something.”
Logan hummed, and we lay together in silence. It had been a big day, full of firsts, and I wouldn’t have wanted to miss one of them.
Logan: What are you doing tonight?
Disappointed, I remembered my promise to Logan to do whatever was better for him and Jakey, so I needed to reply in a way he wouldn’t feel guilty.
Me: I thought I was coming to your house. I can stay home if you need me to.
Logan: Are we still going to see your brother and his men tomorrow?
I snickered reading his text. I’d warned Shane that we may not make it. I knew how awkward Logan felt if he wasn’t hiding behind the bar. But once my family found out that I’d met Logan’s parents, they’d demanded we set a time to get together. Since weeknights weren’t good with Jakey, we’d decided on Saturday—which was tomorrow—for lunch. Though, I’d had lunch at the restaurant today, and he hadn’t said a word about not wanting to go.
Me: That’s the plan, but I can reschedule if you need me to.
Logan: Creed. Will you stop? I still want you to come over tonight, and I’m looking forward to meeting your men, but I thought maybe you could just stay the night at my house tonight?
Do what now?
Logan: I mean, if you want.
Logan: No pressure.
Logan: Do you not want to? You’re not answering. Did I make things weird?
His rapid-fire texts came in so fast that I kept having to erase my answer and start over.
Me: Are you sure, because I’d love to. I mean, I’d really love to.
My body would appreciate it, too. I’d been leaving his house later and later each night, but still forcing myself to get up in time for the gym. I was exhausted.
Me: What about Jakey?
Logan: I talked to his counselor about it this morning. He said Jakey’s easy acceptance into our lives is a good sign. And, uh, as long as we, you know, make sure we keep the door locked if…
I could picture Logan’s face. If he had customers, they were probably worried about his blood pressure right now.
Me: I’d love to. I’ll go home and pack an overnight bag.
Logan: Okay, great. If you want, if you change your mind, that’s fine too, but I think it would be nice for you to not have to drive home in the middle of the night.
I saw the dots that he was typing another message and knew he was panicking and giving me another out. I quickly sent him another text.
Me: See you tonight, baby.
Since the blowjob the other night, I’d stroked Logan off once, and other than that, we’d only snuggled after Jakey went to bed. Logan had put his foot down that if he couldn’t touch me, then I couldn’t get him off anymore. Last night, I’d almost come in my jeans like a teenager from the heavy petting session, so if we were sleeping all night in the same bed together, I’d have to pack condoms. The man was too irresistible, and there was no way I’d make it through the night without losing myself in his gorgeous body.
“Lock the door,” I said as Logan came back into his room after carrying a sleeping Jakey to his bed.
Logan gave me the stink-eye. “No way. I told you, until you let me touch you too, you’re not touching me again.”
“I know.” I
