was watching and recording us, mostly for Brayden’s sake. But thankfully my body is blocking the view of all her private parts, just like I knew it would.
I’m not an idiot. When the mouse cursor on my computer screen started moving on its own yesterday, I knew someone was accessing it from in the firm. After the confrontation with Marcus, he became the obvious culprit. And if he could see my computer, he could see Brayden and me on the computer’s camera, if he so wished.
“Don’t ever touch her again, or I’ll take everything from you and make sure every firm in the country sees this video of you fucking your boss’s daughter while she was working as your assistant.”
“Wow, you would really do that?” I ask him. “Then you must not give a shit about Brayden if you’re willing to let people see her this way.”
“I’ll do whatever it takes to get you away from her,” he grumbles.
“Yeah, same here,” I agree before I get to my feet. Grabbing the laptop off the desk so hard the power cord jerks free, I raise it over my head and then slam it down on his desk over and over again like a madman, making him cringe away to avoid getting hit by random keys and chunks of plastic.
Tossing the remainder of it down with my chest still rising and falling rapidly with adrenaline, I tell him, “You can shove this job up your ass for all I care! I’m tired of working for a piece of shit who manipulates a teenage girl into staying with him because it’s the only way to keep her! If you ever come near Brayden or me again, your face is gonna look just like that shattered laptop.”
When he doesn’t respond other than to pick up his office phone, I say, “In case I wasn’t clear, I quit.”
Speaking into the phone, he says, “We need security up here to escort Logan Davenport off the premises. He’s not allowed to collect his belongings or come back into the building. If he tries, call the police.”
“Typical,” I mutter. “You’re too much of a pussy to confront me directly.”
I’m about to walk out the door when it suddenly flies open, causing me to jump back out of the way.
And it’s just the man I wanted to see.
“What the hell is going on in here?” Walter Chambers asks us.
“Your partner started fooling around with Brayden when she was seventeen and has been blackmailing her into being with him ever since. He’s the reason for all the shit that’s happened to her — why she flunked out of college and why she got arrested in Cancun,” I explain to him in a rush. “You should also know that I’m falling in love with Brayden, and I’m not going to stop seeing her or let him keep hurting her.”
And then I brush past him and out the door to leave the building my damn self without any escorts. I know that I told Brayden I’d be back, but she’s safe now that her father knows the truth. So, when I get outside, I decide it’s best if I go home and cool off rather than stick around and push my luck getting arrested for trespassing.
The old Logan would be panicking, worried about the future and how his career will recover now that I just quit my job.
The new Logan, though? He’s finally got the girl of his dreams, and that’s the only thing that matters.
Chapter Thirty
Brayden
“Is it true?”
“Jeez, Daddy. Give a girl some notice,” I say, jumping a foot when my father suddenly speaks from Logan’s doorway. I had started tidying up his desk out of nervousness because I needed something to do.
“Is it?” he asks again. “What Logan said about you…you and Marcus?”
Great. Guess the cat’s out of the bag. While I’m not upset with Logan for going to my dad, a little heads-up would’ve been nice.
Crossing my arms over my chest defensively, since I have a feeling a fight is coming on with my father, I steel my spine and tell him, “Yes.”
Taking a few steps into the office, he lowers his voice and asks, “Why didn’t you tell your mother or me?”
“Because at first, I thought I loved him and that he cared about me. He told me it was best if you didn’t know. Then things got bad, and I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t think you would believe me over him. He assured me
