more than helping me get her settled. Then you will explain what is going on before you leave and go catch whoever did this. Understood?”

Logan scowled. “You need—”

“I need you to do what I’m asking before I lose my temper and start screaming for the cops. Now, are we clear?”

“Damn,” Aleron’s voice came through the earbud. “Is he as hot as he sounds? You think he’s single? Because—”

Logan growled. “Get to work.”

“Okay, everybody go.” Bailey shooed everyone back into the main area of the bar. The security guard seemed very confused. Bailey simply patted him on the arm. “Thanks for your help, Tim. We’ve got it under control.”

The guy nodded and wandered back away, obviously as unable as Logan to resist Bailey’s charm. Logan should probably let the manager know that his security person had approximately two brain cells to rub together, but hell, that was probably all this place needed on a normal night.

He followed Bailey, with Ashley curled up against his chest. She’d tucked her face into his neck and started licking and nipping. “Cut it out.”

He flashed his eyes and used his alpha voice on her, and she stilled. Logan honestly wasn’t sure it would work, but he’d had some success with it on humans before. If he had a pack—but he didn’t, so it didn’t matter.

Bailey led him to the back of the parking lot and an older model two-door Civic. It had seen better days. Bailey unlocked the passenger door and held it open so Logan could put Ashley in the seat.

Logan secured her seat belt before backing away. Bailey closed the door, and when he turned around, they ended up entirely too close to each other. Bailey looked up at him, and Logan’s breath caught.

He really didn’t understand why he was reacting this way—and to a human no less—but he wanted nothing more than to give Bailey his scent and warn off anyone else who thought to get close to him. He raised his hand and reached for Bailey’s neck to rest his hand over the spot Ashley had kissed. He layered his scent over hers, then stroked his thumb over the base of Bailey’s throat.

Bailey laughed nervously and took a step back. “Well, that got awkward fast. Did she slobber on me or something?”

Logan didn’t answer. He couldn’t.

Bailey shifted from foot to foot, then moved around Logan to get to the driver’s side of the car.

“I’ll follow you to your place,” Logan said once Bailey had the door open. He ignored how husky his voice sounded.

Aleron pulled up in front of them in the black SUV the team had used to get to the bar. He hopped out, leaving the door open for Logan.

“You okay?”

Logan nodded. “Get airborne and follow us. Make sure we aren’t being tracked, and let me know if you see anything suspicious. Gideon, you’re in charge. Update Dasan and Coal when they get here. I’ll be back as soon as I get the humans to safety.”

Once Logan was in the SUV, Bailey started his car and drove away. Logan trailed him, keeping his eyes both on the car in front of him and on the rearview mirror. His earbud crackled after a moment, and the electronically disguised voice of the oracle came through it.

“License plate number.”

Logan rattled it off quickly.

“Bailey Cairns, twenty-four, single, no arrest record. Not even a parking ticket. Looks like he’s recently graduated with a degree in business administration. Currently employed by Candlelight Dinner Theater, but… it looks like he turned in his resignation, and tonight was his last night as their stage manager.”

“That explains why he’s wearing all black,” Logan mumbled as they slowed to a stop at a traffic light.

“What do you think attacked her?”

“I think it was an incubus or a succubus. I couldn’t get the sex from the scent, but it was that awful sweet scent we saw at the last one. It must have heard us or scented us, because it clearly wasn’t done with the girl when I found her.”

“Any clue how it got away?”

“None.”

“Damn it. I didn’t get anything on the cameras either. I’ve got eyes and ears on the team. Let’s see what we can find. Get the humans safe, then get back to the bar. We need your nose on this along with Scout’s.”

Logan wanted to protest, but he refrained. The oracle had a point. He had a lot more experience tracking than Scout did, and as long as they weren’t being followed, Bailey and Ashley would
