hours here. There may be times we work long and hard, and sometimes that gives us the flexibility to have some time off. But you have to earn that. It’s your second day here. You haven’t earned it yet.”

He held her gaze for a long, intense moment. His smile had faded but his face was neutral. “I understand,” he said. “I apologize. It won’t happen again.”

“Thank you. That’s all.”

He rose, all tall and gorgeous, and left her office.

Crap. She resisted the urge to lay her head on her desk. Now she had to go give the other guys shit for the lunch stunt they’d pulled the day before.

Chapter Four

Levi ground his back teeth together as he strode out of Sloane’s office. What. The. Fuck. He’d never been treated like a child at AdMix. Was this what he’d signed on for? Christ. In his office, he threw himself down into his chair and let himself stew in anger for a few minutes, heat washing over him, rushing through his veins.

Just last night she’d assured him their first meeting would be left in the past and he’d be judged on his work. So much for that bullshit. She was clearly still pissed at him for Friday night, but come on. Seriously? A few hours of sleep and she was going to hold a grudge? For how long? Was he supposed to do penance for that?

Or was it for the sin of holding a bachelor party for his best friend? Again, seriously? He rolled his eyes. Was she that much of a pruda cuda that she couldn’t tolerate some guys having a little fun? Jesus.

Maybe they’d cut him some slack at AdMix because he was their star, not minding when he came in late after a late night, or laid off early the odd Friday afternoon. Why they couldn’t see that here at Huxworth Packard he had no fucking clue. Did they not see that One Show pencil sitting right there on his shelf?

Okay. Okay. He let out a long breath. He couldn’t dwell on this and let it interfere with work. He had shit to do.

He rolled up to his desk and tapped his keyboard to bring the screen to life. There we go. He and Scott were meeting at ten thirty to start throwing out some ideas. He had a few things to get done…a few emails already… He frowned at his computer. What the fuck? The cursor was out of control. He gave his mouse a hard shake and tried again. He stared in confusion as the cursor jumped around the screen. What was going on?

He sat back and frowned. He picked up his mouse and examined it. It looked fine. He rapped it on the desk a couple of times. Suddenly a Word document he had minimized appeared on the screen. He blinked.

His computer was going nuts. Fucking great. He’d have to call that IT guy, what was his name…He’d met him briefly yesterday when they got him set up on the network. Fuck, he couldn’t remember his name.

He pushed his chair back, stood and strode out into the open area. He spotted Noah. “Hey Noah,” he called. “My computer’s acting weird. Who should I call?”

Noah turned to him. “Huh. Call Yoshi. His extension is 4819.”

“Thanks.”

Back in his office he made the call. Yoshi promised to be right up. Levi sat back down and watched his computer. It seemed fine now. He reached for the mouse and tried to minimize the Word document. It worked! Okay good, he’d call back Yoshi…then the Word document appeared again. Shit! What was he doing wrong? Then his email program appeared. And closed. Then Internet Explorer opened…and the image of a naked brunette on her knees being nailed from behind by some muscular dude appeared full screen.

“Jesus Christ!” he yelled.

“Problems, Levi?”

Fuck no! He closed his eyes, his heart giving a sickeningly hard kick against his ribs. Not Sloane. But yes, it was. He turned to her. “No, no! Everything’s fine.”

“I heard you cursing as I walked by.” She stepped into his office.

He threw out a hand. “Stay back!”

She frowned at him. “What is wrong with you?”

Dammit, she moved closer. Levi grabbed his mouse and frantically circled it on the desk. Nothing! Fucking fucking hell!

“What are you doing?” Again she came closer, still frowning, and then she froze as she saw his monitor.

“I don’t know how that happened!” Levi said. “Seriously! My computer is doing weird things, it was out of control and it
