we talk about a few things but nothing to worry about and nothing huge.”

I could see questions running through his mind, but I could feel the tension in his body leaving. “Good. Communication is always important, but I’m glad it’s nothing that was stressful for you.”

“Nope. Nothing stressful.” I could feel my face heating. “But I hadn’t expected to talk about it, so it was a surprise when he brought it up after our session.”

Leon chuckled. “Did you expect to keep it private with Destin around?”

“No, I guess I’d just forgotten how everyone knows everyone around here and I hadn’t expected him to have heard about it.” I snuggled closer again. “He was happy that I was happy, though. He said you seemed like a nice guy.”

When he was silent, I peeked up. Leon shrugged, but I could see his cheeks starting to turn a bit pink. Was he embarrassed someone thought he’d be a good Daddy?

“Well, I’m glad everything went well.” If he wanted to change the topic, I wasn’t going to argue with him.

“Yes.” Giving him one last hug, I stepped back as his arms relaxed. “But now I think I was promised dinner and dessert.”

He scoffed. “I don’t remember anything like that.”

I shook my head, grinning as I walked around to the passenger side. “Nope, it’s my free meal and I want to go out to dinner with my Daddy.”

“I’m not sure that’s how freebie meals work, but I’ll let you get away with it this time.” As we climbed in the car and he turned on the engine, he looked over at me. “Is this an outing for my little boy or is this just dinner?”

Deciding to test things out, I shook my head. “Neither.”

His gaze narrowed as he studied me, but there was simply curiosity in his face, not worry. “Then what is it?”

“A date with my…well, with the man who’s my Daddy and takes care of me.” I was the one who was starting to blush this time.

“Hmm, I guess that would be important too.” His eyes darted back and forth between me and the building again.

His words were carefully said to make him sound very relaxed, but I could feel tension rising in the car as he spoke. “I think that a more concise definition would probably be boyfriend. Don’t you agree?”

The relief flooding through me made me feel a little lightheaded, but I managed a nod and to respond somewhat reasonably. “Yes, that would be a much more concise word. You’re very good at that.”

He chuckled, nodding before reaching over to give my hand a quick squeeze. “Let’s go find my boy some dinner and dessert.”

Me and Daddy were going on a date.

Chapter 17

Leon

Refusing to make dinner as awkward as the drive over to the restaurant had been, I forced what I hoped was a relaxed, pleasant expression and leaned back in my chair. “So how was class?”

Morgan seemed to be doing his best to keep a straight face but ended up giggling.

We got a few looks from people at nearby tables, but no one was close enough to hear us, so I gave a very Destin-like huff. “It was not that bad of a question.”

He shook his head, finally getting his laughter under control. “No more than my question about your day.”

I shrugged. “So we’re not very creative today.”

He smiled, leaning forward and resting his arms on the table. “No, we’re both worried about fucking things up, so it’s making us awkward. We need to ignore the weirdness and just go back to being us.”

I gave him a stern look. “What have I said about cursing?”

He squirmed, glancing down at the table as a blush heated his cheeks. “Yes, Sir.”

I had to admit that it took me entirely too long to connect the dots, but as I watched his reaction, I finally understood. “That turns you on, doesn’t it?”

Asking it in a calm manner only seemed to make his…situation worse for some reason. I thought back to what I’d read and what Destin had said and even what Ace online had said. He started to mumble something quietly, but I shook my head, interrupting.

“No, I’m not teasing or trying to make you feel uncomfortable. I’m doing my best to understand but clearly doing it badly.” At my response, he glanced up, still blushing. “As your boyfriend and Daddy, it’s my responsibility to understand what you like and how you respond to things.”

Yes, there would be several topics we needed to discuss
