Kiss Me in the Dark Anthology - Monica James Page 0,51
“Oh yeah? And what’s that?”
“What you always do…” He finally gives me a glimmer of the old B. “Getting your dick wet.”
My eyes swing around the room. “Wait, you think that they’re just going to let me up in there?” I can’t help the deep chuckle that escapes me. “Dawg, literally no one can get in there without jumping hurdles, and those hurdles, are usually always scattered fucking body parts. Literally. They steal people. They have hurdles, B! Come on!”
Bishop glares at me, bored. “Then jump.”
“You’re an asshole, you know that?”
He doesn’t flinch at my words, he welcomes them. “People need to find a new word to describe me, asshole just isn’t it anymore.” Bishop stands from his chair, slowly making his way to the oversized window that overlooks the busy Upper East Side.
“I could think of another.” I smirk at him, flicking my pierced tongue over my teeth.
He flips me off. “Go in there, make some noise.” He turns his head over his shoulder. “King and Dove are already waiting for you…”
The stain of darkness is permanent once it has clung itself to you. There’s no shaking it off, no denying it. Once you’ve tasted the bitter tang of it on the tip of your tongue, you’ll do everything you can to drink from its poison for the rest of your life. You’ll be like a junkie, needing your next fix. It’s addicting, fucking powerful.
I know this. It’s a fucking fact. How do I know this, you ask? Well, shit, that’s a whole fuckin’ story that isn’t ready to be told right now, but I will say this…
Two people come into my life. Shit, I wasn’t even sure how it happened. I didn’t realize what was happening until I was hit right in the fucking core of a twisted fucking tale of a love lost, saved, and ruined. Fucking no one could save me.
Not her.
And definitely not him.
And anyway, I didn’t need fuckin’ saving. I was Eli fuckin’ Rebellis, an Elite motherfucking King, and the blood that ran through my veins was the concoction of that poison, so I guess you could say it wasn’t me that was drinking it…
It was them.
Welcome to the shit show, fuckers. Midnight Mayhem may be your world, but I come from Hell, and here, we don’t just rule this bitch, we fuck it too.
This was an exclusive bonus scene that is the transition of Eli moving from The Elite Kings world to Midnight Mayhem. You do not need to read this in order to start In Silence She Screams, which will be Eli’s, Kyrin, and Lilith’s book. Hoping to have it to you all by the end of this year.

Zeth Mayfair’s never been troubled by morals before. As one of Seattle’s most dangerous, feared men, he’s always carried out the jobs he’s sent on without a second thought. Drugs? Guns? Dirty money? They’re all fair game. But girls? Girls are another matter entirely. When Zeth’s employer decides buying and selling kidnapped women is a lucrative sideline, Zeth’s usually uncomplicated life suddenly becomes very complicated indeed. And his biggest complication goes by the name of Sloane Romera.
As a trauma doctor at St. Peter’s Hospital, Sloane’s finger is hardly on the pulse of Seattle’s underground crime scene. Her sister is missing and she needs to find her, yet all doors leading into the seedy world of human trafficking are firmly closed in Sloane’s face. She needs information. What she really needs is help...and help presents itself in the most unlikely of forms. Zeth Mayfair is terrifying, scandalously hot, and comes fully loaded with a terrible attitude and wicked smile. He also looks like he’s Sloane’s only hope. Can she work with the guy without getting herself killed, losing her job, or falling head over heels in love?
