“I wish there wasn’t so much risk for you,” I whispered seriously. “I’d break this off if I knew it was the right thing to do, but it doesn’t feel right. You feel right.”

“So do you, princess.” He leaned down, his fingers carving lines of fire along my jaw before he pushed them into my hair. “When I first saw you here, I thought you were beautiful, entitled and would be just like every other vapid girl in this school. But fuck me, Tatum, you’re none of those things. You’re not even beautiful the way I saw you that day, not now I’ve seen your heart, your strength, your pain. You’re fucking radiant. You’re miles of light in the endless dark.”

He leaned down, kissing me, his tongue sinking between my lips and setting my core on fire. I wrapped my arms around him, gripping his shoulders as his muscles rippled beneath my touch like I was setting off an earthquake in him the way he was with me. He tugged my bottom lip between his teeth and I gasped, arching into him, trying to get closer still.

We finally broke apart and I sucked my swollen lips as he led me back to the golf cart. My heart beat like it was a jet plane about to lift off into the sky and the engines were aflame.

I sipped on the champagne as he turned the cart around and we headed back in the direction of Aspen Halls. We passed the huge building but then he took a track up into the trees, following the line of the lakeshore out of sight. We passed The Temple and I glimpsed lights on in the windows between the thick trunks and found myself wondering what the boys were up to tonight. I pictured Saint sitting quietly in his wingback throne while Kyan and Blake played video games. Or maybe they were busy washing blood from their hands after their latest torture session in their hunt for the Justice Ninja.

Monroe drove all the way down to the gym then parked up around the side of the building. He got out and pulled me after him, a devilish glint in his eyes as I followed with the half empty bottle of champagne hanging loosely in my fingers.

Nash walked around to the window to our usual training room and pushed it up, tossing me a grin. He took the bottle from my hands, placing it on the ground, then lifted me up to help me inside. I stifled a laugh as I climbed into the room that smelled of new leather and cleaning spray before turning to grab the bottle Monroe was holding out for me.

He climbed inside and gently pushed the window shut then grabbed my hand again, practically bounding across the room like an excitable puppy. He led me out of the training room and through to the pool where the warm air wrapped around us. It was dark, but Monroe found a switch to bring on the blue lights at the base of the pool and the water seemed to glow, casting patterns across the ceiling and walls.

“Do you have any idea how much I wanted you when we had to isolate here together?” Monroe growled from behind me and a shiver ran through me.

“Tell me.” I took a long swig from the champagne bottle then placed it by my feet as a sweet burn filled my tummy. I pulled off my coat, kicked off my shoes and tugged my cami off next. A thrill ran through me as I felt Monroe watching.

“You’re addictive. I wanted to consume every piece of you,” he said darkly.

I dropped my jeans, bending forward as I pulled them off so he got a view of my ass and my pale pink panties before standing again and looking over my shoulder at him.

“So why didn’t you?” I asked teasingly. “No one was here to see.”

I unclasped my bra, shrugging it off and his eyes burned with the heat of a thousand suns. I hooked my fingers into the sides of my panties, raising an eyebrow at him. “Why Nash?”

His throat rose and fell. “I have no fucking idea.” He started striding forward as if to grab me and I dove into the pool, arcing under the water before resurfacing and turning to face him.
