Kings of Anarchy (Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep #3) - Caroline Peckham Page 0,101

have you got planned?" I asked.

"We're going to find out if any of them have heard rumours of who this fucking Justice Ninja is. We’ve had them listening in on everyone in the dorms outside their rooms at night," Blake growled, cracking his knuckles.

"Anyone who has information can go back to bed. Those who don't will get hunted in the woods." Kyan smiled darkly and my heart pounded out of rhythm.

“Can I come?” I asked, biting my lip at the thought of throwing myself into punishing those assholes tonight.

“Naw.” Kyan stepped toward me, kissing me hard. "We got you a babysitter."

I pursed my lips as he walked away, but my mood did a U-turn as I spotted Monroe entering The Temple a heartbeat later. No complaints here.

"See you later, Tate." Blake kissed me too and the two of them headed off together shoulder to shoulder. The door shut firmly and I grinned at Monroe as I realised we had just gotten crazy lucky.

I pointed at Saint's laptop on the table and he jogged over to it in anticipation. I took my phone from my pocket, running over to join him and bringing up the video of Saint entering his password. We had one hour before Saint came back and that would have to be enough.

I grabbed a pen and paper as Monroe examined the footage then I sat beside him at the table.

"Okay this first part is E...D...hashtag...E, D, hashtag...E, B, D, C, A," Monroe paused, looking to me with a shake of his head. "It's fucking sheet music, I told you he had a symphony in here." He laughed excitedly, continuing on with the password until I had it all written out.

My stomach swirled as I glanced at the door, but Saint wouldn't be back until ten on the dot. We had plenty of time. I opened his laptop, typing in the password, biting my lip in anticipation then it dinged and we were taken to the home screen. "Yes!"

Monroe shifted closer, his shoulder pressing against mine as he took over, hungrily rifling through Saint’s files. Everything was perfectly organised unsurprisingly, but that didn't make it easier to find something useful to use against his father. If he had anything at all on here that would be helpful, it was bound to be hidden deep.

We searched his emails, finding a couple from Troy talking about colleges. He'd listed the emails of board members for various Ivy League colleges and my gut clenched as I thought of Saint heading off across the country after graduation. Blake would no doubt head off to one with a great football team and Kyan? I had no idea what Kyan would do. But his family’s claws were so deep in him, I wasn’t sure he’d ever get away from them.

"What will you do after our graduation?" I blurted at Monroe and he frowned, keeping his gaze on the screen as he continued to work through folder after folder.

"I don't know, princess. It depends..."

"On what you do about Troy?" I guessed.

"Yeah...and other things." He glanced at me from the corner of his eyes and my neck blazed with heat. "What will you do?"

"Honestly...I have no idea. I never really saw myself going to college. Maybe I'll go back to California..." My stomach knotted at the thought of leaving the Night Keepers behind, but what else was really going to happen? They might have thought we were bound forever, but that wasn't true. Things would change after this school year was over. Blake, Kyan and Saint would realise they had lives waiting for them beyond Everlake whether it was college or otherwise. We weren’t walking the same paths.

"Hm," he grunted, evidently not pleased with my words. "Maybe I'll follow you there."

I elbowed him with a laugh. "If you're not on the run by then."

"Yeah," he said, his tone serious instead of joking and that made my gut clench tightly.

"Nash..."

"I'm taking on the governor of the whole state, Tatum, it's not without risks. I can't promise this won't end badly," he said, his eyes still on the screen. "So long as I take him down in the process, I don't care what happens to me."

"Don't say that," I hissed and he turned to me at last, his eyes blazing with a pain I knew too well.

The fight went out of me because how could I ask him not to take the risk when I would have done it myself a thousand times over? I'd spilled my enemy's
