accounts with that money. “This is why it took us so long to get here. We flew from Seattle to Grand Cayman and then it took us a couple of days to get back here. The Caymans are ten-thousand miles away from here and it took us about eighteen hours flying time. We stopped in Italy and in Dubai before finally arriving.”
“And did you manage to do what I asked?”
I reassure River. “Yeah, dude. Your sister will get untraceable monthly deposits.”
His shoulders visibly relax. “I’ll let Keira know. Josie needs one last surgery and I promised that when she’s strong enough, she’ll come visit us here.”
Sloane hugs River tight. “I can’t wait to see Josie again. So this is why we’re staying here? You kept the robbery money?”
We confirm that we did. It’s not like that wasn’t money VDB didn’t steal from us to begin with. But obviously the government wouldn’t see it that way, since the way we got it back was definitely not kosher.
“Are you mad at us for not letting that money go?” I ask and the woman of my dreams doesn’t disappoint.
“Hell, no. Especially since some of it is being used to help Josie.”
That’s my girl. “So we’ll just lay low here until we’re sure that the authorities aren’t looking for that money anymore.”
Dinner passes making plans for Alicia and Roger’s wedding tomorrow night. When the happy couple retires to their room, Sloane yawns, stretching her arms above her head. “I’m so tired. Let’s go to bed too.”
Her gaze is full of promises and we don’t let her say it twice. However, when she starts toward her bungalow, I look at Blaine, nodding my head.
He lifts Sloane over his shoulder, fireman style and begins running toward a dock at the far end of the resort, carrying her as if she weighed nothing.
“Blaine! Put me down! What are you guys doing?” She squeals as she notices the three of us following closely.
“We’re kidnapping you, Honey Bunny.” Blaine chuckles boarding a tender and switching the engine on once we’re all aboard.
River covers Sloane’s eyes with his tattooed hands. “Where are you guys taking me?” She giggles and River doesn’t miss the opportunity to tease.
“We’re taking you to our secret lair. If you find out where it is, we might have to kill you.” The boat ride is short and when we guide Sloane off the boat, she immediately sees our destination. A huge bungalow that occupies most of the small atoll we’re on.
We enter the airy space, all wood and gauzy white curtains on the many open verandas. “What’s this place? It’s gorgeous.”
We let her explore for a few more minutes before we explain. “We had this place built for you, Princess.” Royce smiles. “For us. This is home.”
Tears shine in Sloane’s eyes as she stops in front of the biggest bed any of us has ever seen. “Oh my God, guys. This place is gorgeous!”
I nod at my best friends, my brothers and we all drop down on one knee as Blaine extracts a small, black box from the pocket of his shorts.
“Omg!” Sloane gasps as Blaine opens the box revealing the three carat, brilliant cut diamond mounted on a simple platinum band.
“Sloane,” I say, trying to steady my voice as emotion threatens to overcome me. “Since that day at the bank, when we took you with us, I’ve known that we’d never be apart. That you were it for me.”
River chokes on his words. “What he said, Kitten.”
“I love you, Princess.” Royce’s voice is a deep, low rumble.
“You’re everything to each of us, Honey Bunny. I love you.”
“Sloane, we couldn’t live without you.” I continue. “Will you marry us?”
She nods, now crying and unable to utter a word.
We all descend on her, spinning her around to kiss each of us. “Yes, yes, yes.” She keeps whispering between kisses.
“Tomorrow will be a double wedding.” I inform her once we manage to take our lips away from her long enough to talk.
“But,” she objects. “I can’t possibly marry you all, right?”
We nod but that’s another reason why we came here. “Polygamy is legal here in the Maldives, Kitten.” River informs her. “So yes, you can marry us all.”
“Wow, I—” She smiles, at a loss for words. “I guess we’ll think about what to do if we ever return stateside.”
We all close in on our fiancée, depositing her delicately on the huge bed.
“I’m glad we stole you Sloane,” I admit with a grin.
“I’m glad you are keeping me.” She flashes a shy smile and I can’t help but kiss her as something settles in my chest.
Our future is a confusing adventure that none of us could have expected and while we don’t know what it holds for us … I know that as long as we are together anything is possible.
