me because Pulse hasn’t cleared me for sex.
“Will you behave?” he asks, kissing the tips of my fingers.
“Probably not.”
“Then no,” he grins.
“Kan—”
He silences his road name with a kiss. He presses me against the wall and hooks my good leg over his hip. “What did I tell you about calling me that?”
“I only do it to annoy you now,” I giggle, my breath hitching when his thumb rubs over the flesh of my hip when my shirt rides up.
“You could never annoy me.”
“I want you,” I pant.
He proceeds to trace a few of the cuts from the glass around my neck. His brows furrow as his fingers dive down around the curve of my breasts until he is gliding them between them. “I want you too. I want you so bad.”
“Then—”
“—I refuse to hurt you.”
“You won’t,” I try to argue, but he backs away from me. “Amos?”
“Not until Pulse gives the go-ahead, Springs. It’s your leg. I’m not going to risk busting those stitches and having you bleed to death because I want to give in and be twelve inches deep inside you.” He strokes his erection through his gray sweatpants, and I can see every ridge, every vein, the crown of the thick head as it presses against the material. My mouth waters for a taste.
“Twelve inches would feel so good right about now,” I say breathlessly.
He groans and slams the back of his fist against the wall behind him. “Damn it, no. No! You’re getting into my head.” He taps against his temple. “With your… fucking body and those lips. Christ. I need out of this room too.”
“Amos—”
He grabs me by the shoulders, sliding his hands up and around my neck until his fingers are buried in my hair. “I love you and that is exactly why I am saying no. I want you more than my next breath, but I want you to live more. I want you to heal, and I want us to be able to move on with our lives, and it’s already hard to do knowing the man that hit you and your sisters hasn’t been caught yet. There’s a lot on our plates, but you healing—” he tilts my head back and kisses my chin, “—you healing is the top priority, okay? He said another week. One more week and your clothes are off, that back is flat, those legs are spread, and I’m going to be so deep inside you, you’ll feel me for an entire week after.” He sucks my bottom lip into my mouth, tugs it down before letting it go softly. “How does that sound?”
“Why don’t you feel for yourself?” I tempt him by insinuating how wet I am between my legs.
Which I most definitely am.
“You’re trouble.” He shakes a finger at me.
“Kansas! Church!” Arrow bellows from outside.
Always interrupted.
“I’ll be right out,” Amos shouts.
He sits down on the edge of the bed and holds out his arm, signaling me to come to him. I waddle over, dragging my injured leg behind me dramatically, and he laughs.
His smile is so damn gorgeous. I love seeing him happy.
I plop down on his lap, and his arm makes itself home around the dip of my waist like it always does.
“Make sure you—”
I exhale as I repeat his every word, “Make sure I lock the door and keep the gun next to me at all times. I know.”
“Carson will be—”
“—Right outside. I know. I know.” I flop down to the bed and crawl up it. I won’t ever admit it to him, but it feels good to lie down. I might just take a nap because I’m already exhausted.
Not that I’d tell him that either.
Damn, I didn’t even go to the bathroom. Ugh, there is nothing worse than getting comfortable and realizing you need to pee.
“I’m sorry it’s like this, Springs.” He gently tugs on one of my curls, then lets go like he always does to watch it bounce.
The section that had to get shaved is still pretty bare, and I surprisingly don’t mind it. It makes me look edgy, when I’m far from it. Amos likes it too, so I might keep it, even after the cuts heal.
“It’s okay. I guess if I had to be stuck within four walls, I’d want to be stuck within four walls with you.”
He tucks the blanket under my chin and places the gun on the nightstand. “You have such a way with words.”
“And you have such a way with weapons.” I yawn, and
