couch instead of in my bed with my wife is bullshit.”
He’s pissed and I get it, I would be too. I didn’t ask him to stay though, so that shit is on him. I’m not gonna be made to feel guilty for having a good time or trying to forget reality for a while.
We get on our bikes and fly to Souls. It seems we are all anxious to hear what is going on. When we get there, we don’t say anything, we just head inside. Porter, Alex, Finn, and Enzo are sitting at a table eating burgers. I’m suddenly starving and walk over grabbing one off the table.
“Help yourself,” Porter says.
I take a bite and grin. “Thanks, I will.”
“Alright we’re all here now, let’s get this over with,” Enzo says, standing up.
“Brooks is here?” Zane asks.
Enzo runs his hand through his beard, nodding. “Yeah he’s waiting.”
Z looks at me and I shake my head. This isn’t good. We get around the table and once we are all sitting, Brooks puts his elbows on the table, steepling his hands in front of his mouth. He looks around at us and my muscles tighten.
“I got word that the Raging Devils made an unexpected appearance at the Souls Two.” He turns immediately to Zane, grabbing his shoulder. “Harper wasn’t there, and they didn’t get inside.” He looks around at all of us and shakes his head. “We’re gonna need to pay a visit to their club house and remind them we aren’t fucking around.”
“We need to close down Souls Two,” Zane growls.
“Relax, not yet, brother,” I say, grabbing his arm to get his attention. “We do that, and they are winning before it even starts. They can’t get the upper hand.”
“Kace is right,” Enzo agrees. “We need to have a show of force and remind them this is our neighborhood, not theirs.”
“Fuck,” Zane says, slamming his hands on the table. “We ran them out of here once, we need to do it again.”
“It’s not going to be that easy this time. They are bigger and more organized now,” Brooks states, crossing his arms.
Everyone is looking around and I grin, folding my hands on the table. “Let’s remind them we’re bigger and better organized.”
“Fuck yeah,” Riley says, nodding at me.
“We’ll go in and I’ll try to sit and talk with Hawk, tell him there’s no room for them here. We know it’s not gonna go like that, but maybe we can make him a deal that can’t refuse,” Brooks says, leaning back in his leather chair.
“What deal is that?” Porter asks.
“Offer him the rest of the Vegas Kings, let him do a patch over, but only if they stay the fuck out of here.”
I glance around and figure no one else is gonna bring it up, so I do. “How the fuck are you going to offer members of another mc that crumbled to the ground?”
“Seems too risky. We should just go in with force,” Zane says.
Normally, Zane is out of his mind with the ideas he comes up with, but for this I agree. Offering members that aren’t ours to offer isn’t just stupid, it will force them to take revenge when it doesn’t go their way. We’re trying to avoid a war, not start one.
“Z’s right. That deal isn’t ours to make and it seems almost certain a war will be the result,” I say.
Enzo blows out a breath and his worried eyes look around. “They’re right, Brooks. We are asking for retaliation with that move.”
Brooks shakes his head as he lights a cigarette. “We need to offer them something,” he growls, smoke circling his head.
“What if we can find out who Kingsley’s distributor was? We could offer him that?” I suggest.
“Fuck, that’s smart, Kace,” Enzo says, grinning.
Zane is already on the phone before we even ask him to talk to Harper. It’s a smart move. One that will ensure the Raging Devils stay away, if it all works out. If not, we’re fucked.
“Harper is gonna make some phone calls, but she knows it was a guy out of New York. Let’s present the offer and tell him it’s in the works,” Zane says, pocketing his phone.
“It’s a risk, but it’s the best we’ve got,” Brooks says.
“Let’s go make our offer,” Ezo agrees and we all stand up.
We pile out of the room and everyone grabs a quick shot. It’s the last thing I should probably do, but I need something right now. It’s bad enough we are just showing up
