Just a Positive Pregnancy Test - London Casey Page 0,73

Not just in a sexual way either. I mean, we were enjoying our time together. Him touching, kissing, tasting, and taking me was some of the best moments of my life. Me and him together, that warm rush everywhere…

I cleared my throat to shut my mind up about that stuff for a second.

What I meant to think was… I loved the way he always had to touch me. A hand on my back. Touching my arm or my wrist. Or in the middle of the night, he’d search me out in bed. His fingers would interlock with mine and our hands would rest on my stomach.

Also - it wasn’t like in movies and TV shows.

That romantic stuff was amazing, but… reality was different.

The whole hand holding and hands on my stomach thing was nice for about thirty seconds. After that, Silas got a gentle kick from me, which was me being nice and telling him to give the pregnant woman some space.

Sleep wasn’t always comfortable, and if he wasn’t going to slide his boxers down and slide into me, then he needed to back off.

All thought about and acted out with love. Of course.

I looked down at my stomach. “Oh, little man, I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait to see your face and your eyes and… well, I can’t wait to see your Daddy with you.”

Every time I found myself getting nervous about giving birth, I shifted my focus to Silas as a father. I couldn’t wait to see him. A tiny baby in his big hands. The late nights where he was used to being worked up from too much whiskey and some woman he met on the road… to now making a bottle or changing a diaper…

It filled me with so much love.

“Soon enough, little man,” I said. “But not too soon. Me and your Aunt Olivia are going to have you and your cousin at the same time, okay? That’s the deal. So be ready. You’re going to be born into a very busy family. I’d say sorry but I’ve never known anything but this. I think you’ll like it.”

I finished getting ready and left the inn.

My next stop was to see the other side of the beginning of life.

Buddy opened the door and smiled. “Mila.” He pointed to my stomach. “Can I say it?”

“Go ahead, Buddy,” I said.

“You doubled in size,” he said. “In a beautiful way. My goodness, look at you. I truly hope you have ten million pictures of this, Mila. You’re going to regret it if you don’t.”

“Thank you, Buddy,” I said. “How is she?”

Buddy frowned. “Rough day today. She’s in bed. She’s trying to play it off as a rest day but I don’t think she could get out of bed if she tried.”

I swallowed hard.

Buddy’s eyes looked tired and hollow.

I reached for his right hand. “Well, then we better bring an exciting day to her bed.” I cringed. “Oh, that sounded wrong, huh?”

“Hey,” Buddy said. “Been there. Done that.”

I pulled my hand away and shook my head.

The amount of horniness by those over the age of sixty-five in this town concerned me.

Buddy led the way through Dot’s cozy house.

I felt my heart aching.

I didn’t know everything about Buddy and Dot.

But to think about them being high school sweethearts and losing each other only to end up together years later… and Dot was dying…

Buddy knocked on an open bedroom door. “Hey, Dot. Someone is here to see you.”

“Is it that good looking rancher?” Dot called out.

“No,” Buddy said. “It’s the prettiest Justa of them all.”

I stepped into the bedroom and Dot touched her cheeks. “Mila! You look so pregnant!”

“Yes, I do,” I said. “And I feel it right now.”

“Get over here,” she said.

I walked to the side of the bed as Dot wanted a hug.

When she hugged me she had some strength. Which was good.

She had color to her face. A smile on her face.

She just looked tired.

On the other side of the bed, Buddy had a chair there.

He sat down and put a hand to Dot’s leg over the blankets.

“I’m so tired today,” Dot whispered to me. “I think Buddy is wearing me out. You figure a man would get laid during his life, right? Not this guy. He saved it all up for me.”

I laughed and looked at Buddy.

He shook his head. “I have been with plenty of women in my lifetime. Just never the right one.”

Dot looked at Buddy. “You’re not getting any today. I have
