It's Complicated - J. S. Cooper Page 0,16

No way. That’s amazing.”

“Do you ride?”

“I used to ride a bike when I was a kid, through the park, but I can’t say I’ve ever attempted to ride across the country.”

“You know, I was thinking about trying to ride across Canada in a couple of years. Maybe you’d be interested?”

“Maybe.” I gave him a small smile. No way in hell, I was thinking to myself. That didn’t sound like fun at all. But I didn’t want to discourage him just yet.

“So Gemma...”

“Yes, Lucas?”

“I was wondering if I could ask you a personal question.”

“I guess it depends on how personal the question is.”

“Well, and forgive me if I’m being too forward. I was wondering if you had any fantasies or dreams or expectations for anything in life.”

“What do you mean by fantasies?” I gave him a look. “Are you talking about sexually?”

He grinned at me for a couple of seconds. “Well you can take that any way you like. I just meant like for life in general, but if you have sexual fantasies as well, feel free to tell me.”

“Lucas, I don’t really think this is an appropriate place for us to talk about my sexual fantasies.”

“Why not?” His voice lowered and I could feel his hand on my leg underneath the table. “I wouldn’t mind telling you a couple of my fantasies.”

“Okay,” I sat back shocked, but excited. His fingers were leaving a warm imprint on my tights.

He was being forward again and I could tell he was looking to see how far he could push it. Internally I had to think. What are my limits? What are my boundaries? What am I comfortable talking about with him? Yes, he was absolutely gorgeous. One of the sexiest men I’d ever seen in my life. And yes, I wanted to jump his bones. If we weren’t in the middle of an upscale cafe, I’d be on his lap right now, grinding into him and kissing him.

But we were in a coffee shop and this was our first date. I was looking for a bit more than a hot hookup so I had to reign myself in. “Lucas,” I said and touched his hand on my leg. “I don’t think that this is the right place or time for us to be discussing our sexual fantasies.”

“Can I just tell you one thing, Gemma?”

“Of course.”

“I love your long hair.”

“Thank you.” I grinned at him. The look on his face was telling me everything I needed to know.

“I can picture you on top of me calling out my name and screaming as I pull it.” He gave me a wicked grin and sat back and all I could think to myself was, oh shit he’s going to make this really, really hard. If I wasn’t careful, my panties would be off by the middle of the night and he’d be in my bed and all my good intentions would have gone to hell.

“Hey, Sarah, I didn’t wake you up, did I?” I asked my friend as she picked up the phone yawning.

“No, I was just watching a movie. How’d the date go?”

“It was really good.” I laughed. “I’m just getting back to my apartment now.” I opened my front door. “But he was amazing.”

“Oh, that’s awesome. I’m so glad. So, did he look like his photo?”

“Oh my God, he looked even better than his photo. He was tall, dark, and handsome. Everything that I could have asked for and more. And he’s kind of a little bit naughty.” I admitted to her.

“What do you mean he’s a little bit naughty? You guys didn’t sleep together, did you?”

I could hear the shock in her voice. “No, of course not, Sarah. I wasn’t going to have sex with him on the first date. Not that I think there’s anything wrong with that, and if I’m honest, I’ve done it before, but I’m looking for a boyfriend, and guys who are looking for girlfriends do not make the girls that sleep with them on the first day their mate.”

“Really? What if they really like you?”

“Listen to me Sarah, I know you don’t have much dating experience. Never sleep with a guy you like on the first date. No matter how much he likes you, he will not respect you because there will be no challenge for him anymore. Guys love the chase. They love the chase above everything else. They love thinking they have you, but you have to let them know they don’t quite have you
