Ignite (The Disciples #4) - Cassandra Robbins Page 0,68
except the usual drinking and the same women I’m starting to recognize, although none of them speak to me. Charlie insisted I text right before I went to bed to make sure I was still okay. She said it was because of the margaritas, but I know she worries about me being here alone, which made me want to sneak downstairs and watch what really happens.
I didn’t, but I wanted to. I toss off the helmet. Axel is busy texting. Seems like he’s forgotten about me, but he grabs my hand as he types and walks us inside.
Yeah, no party tonight. The sound of balls clacking tells me people are playing pool, but other than that it seems like the few bikers who are here are drinking quietly or sleeping. One is on the couch, his fat belly on display as he snores.
“Hey, brother. Welcome home.” Fosters saunters up to Axel and they fist bump as he pockets his phone. I’m starting to know all of their names. It’s like I have a bunch of brothers who are gorgeous and scary.
“Anything I need to know?”
“Nothing now other than Eve’s having the party tomorrow, so everyone is resting up.” He glances my way and winks, causing Axel to frown.
“Good, I’m gonna take my girl upstairs. You’ve been warned not to disturb me.”
“You got it, VP. Only if someone’s dead.”
He laughs and walks back to the small group at the bar area as we take the stairs, my stomach flip-flopping the entire time. He called me his girl! It’s stupid, but I like the way it feels. Everyone respects Axel and having him hold my hand makes them look at me with respect.
He unlocks his door and I instantly sigh as the cool air hits my face. Axel walks in and unloads all his phones, a knife, his cigarettes, and the metal lighter he always carries.
“Smells like you, Cookie. It’s good to be home.” He tosses his cut on the bed, his black T-shirt following.
“Is that a bad thing?” I say. He’s getting naked and I try not to stare.
“Nope. I’m gonna take a shower.” He smirks and walks over to me. As I move backward, the cool wall blocks any escape. His muscled, tattooed arms cage me in as he leans down, his lips inches from mine. I reach up to stop myself from passing out.
With a smile, he whispers, “You’re my favorite thing to smell, baby.” And I melt. It’s like a whole new Axel came back and I like this one even more.
His mouth hovers next to mine. “Kiss me. I missed you.”
I can’t think straight, but maybe that’s okay. When I lift my lips slightly to his, he takes over and wraps his hands in my hair, kissing me. With a groan, I open my lips, allowing his tongue to twist with mine. My moans and sheer need take over and I dig my fingers into his wrists.
His tongue traces its way down my neck. And it feels so good I never want him to stop.
But he does. Suddenly he’s not touching me, and my eyes pop open. He’s looking at me, a small grin on his face.
“What’s wrong?” I lean in.
“Nothing. I like to look at you.” He bites my bottom lip. “Tell me, Antoinette… have you ever gotten high?” He cocks his head as my eyes get huge.
“Never. I’m a dancer.” But the excitement in my voice is obvious.
He smiles, and I swear that’s gonna be the end of me. One day, that smile will be too much for me to bear and poof, I’ll be gone.
“Ah, yes. But when you’re with me, you’re mine.” He pushes off the wall and unbuttons his jeans. “And getting high feels good.”
My eyes greedily take in his body. It’s incredible. Perfect ass, muscled legs, and an eight-pack. As he kicks off his jeans and walks into the bathroom, I take a deep breath.
The shower starts and I have to peel myself off the wall to sit on the edge of his bed. Come to think of it, I need a shower too. I probably smell like the diner.
My eyes stray to the bathroom where his addictive scent billows out with the steam. If I was brave, I would strip off my clothes and join him. But there’s no way I’m doing that. He’s also giving me mixed signals. Meaning he’s acting like he’s had a change of heart, yet I’m terrified to trust that it’s real. Still, I’m so
