How to Have Your Boss's Secret Baby - London Casey Page 0,84

your chance.”

I leaned over her and kissed her.

“You’re spoiling me?”

“Rotten.”

“I might get used to it.”

“You should.”

“I might spend a lot of money, Cole.”

“Good,” I said.

“You better close that deal with Mr. Pickle. Or I might have to sleep with him to keep my spending habits going.”

I pulled away and curled my lip.

“Love you, Cole,” she whispered.

“Love you too, Maya,” I said.

I left the room and shook my head.

I had to deal with Mr. Pickle. I had to deal with my druggie of a brother. I had to run a company.

But at the end of it all, there was Maya and the baby.

That’s all I needed.

Chapter Thirty-Seven

Maya

“You’re a designer, Bev, so I trust you,” I said. “I don’t want the room to look cluttered, you know? But I want to make sure I have everything. And that it looks good. I mean, I figure I’ll be here for at least a year. Maybe longer. I don’t know. I really like this place.”

Bev stared at me instead of looking around the nursery.

The word nursery was a loose term to use too since it was an empty room with hardwood floors. There was a big ceiling fan above our heads and that thing was going to go soon.

I had to admit, buying that first item with Cole’s credit card was hard to do.

I felt really guilty.

Especially since everything was top of the line. And killer expensive.

I mean… a crib that costs how much?

But I liked it. A lot.

I even sent a picture of it to Cole.

He told me to buy it.

So I zoomed in on the price.

He replied with the same text.

So, I bought it.

That broke the floodgates for me.

Never in my life was I able to just buy stuff without thinking about money and how to pay it back. And it wasn’t like I was buying myself anything. It was for the baby. Our baby. The baby that Cole and I had made.

It took me thirty minutes to spend thousands of dollars.

When I stopped, my face was bright red and I called Bev for moral support.

She wanted to meet at the apartment to look at the nursery, so I had to make sure Cole had gotten his brother out of there, which he said he did.

So that’s why I was standing in the nursery, with Bev, asking questions.

“You’re in love with him, aren’t you?” Bev asked.

“What?”

“You and your boss. It really became something real.”

“I’m not talking about that,” I said. “I wanted to get your thoughts on painting the walls and stuff.”

“Do you want me to paint the walls?” Bev asked. “I can design some stuff.”

“I just wanted your thoughts.”

“You don’t trust me?”

“I trust you. You’re busy.”

“You think I’m going to paint something crazy, don’t you? Like right above the crib, it’ll say Product of Mommy Fucking Her Boss!”

I snorted and laughed. “Now that would be funny.”

“Can I make that into a onesie for the baby?” Bev asked.

“Sure,” I said. “You give me thoughts on the nursery and then go make some shirts for the baby. Deal?”

“Deal. Hey. You’re not going to find out what you’re having?”

“I don’t know. Sometimes I want to know. Sometimes I don’t. I mean, what’s one more surprise, right? It wasn’t all that long ago, my stomach was mostly flat, my boobs weren’t filled with milk, and I wasn’t having hot sex with my boss in a secret apartment.”

“Your life was boring back then,” Bev said.

“It was a lot calmer,” I said. “Quieter.”

“Okay, let me look around and think.”

Bev spent the next hour in the room with a notebook and pen.

While she did that, I spent a few thousand dollars more on stuff for the baby.

It was really easy to spend Cole’s money.

He said there was no budget.

And even if he got a little pissed about something, I could just take my clothes off.

I blushed as I thought that.

I was going to use my pregnant body to get money.

I had no idea who I was.

But I liked it.

One thing I didn’t like was that I hadn’t been working on my book the way I wanted to.

The asshole boss book needed to be finished.

Except I was kind of out of material.

In real life, my asshole boss got me pregnant and we fell in love.

In the book, I couldn’t have that happen.

Or could I?

At that point though it would end up as more of a memoir.

When Bev was done, we left the apartment and went our separate ways.

She was going back to her apartment to work on ideas for
