always run on appropriate timelines. And, Alexander? I want to live with you. I want to meet the rest of your family. I want you to meet all of mine.” Logan cupped Alexander’s jaw, thumb brushing his cheek, “I want to wake up next to you every morning. I want to take you on romantic trips. I want to give you surprises. I want you to curse me sometimes for those surprises. I want . . . you.”
Alexander clasped Logan’s nape and pulled him down into a short, confident kiss that tasted like an exclamation.
He released Logan and drew him near the balcony. He swallowed nervously, and Logan followed his gaze to a painted picture on the wall. Logan. Painted from memory.
Perfectly rendered. Lovingly rendered.
Logan’s throat swelled.
“I love you too, Logan.”
Logan blinked back tears and kissed Alexander softly. “Yeah, that’s exactly what I wanted to say.” He found Alexander’s fingers and linked them with his. “I love you, Alexander Kress.”
Chapter Twenty-Seven
One Year Later
ALEXANDER
* * *
Moving day. Back to his pride and joy.
Alexander had enjoyed Nico’s apartment the last year, but that had more to do with the man he was living with than the walls they lived in. Although the walls had grown on him too. Just as they’d grow on its next occupants. Nico was moving in with Luci.
He couldn’t deny it. His brother living so close warmed him.
Boxes emptied and put away, the place was almost perfect.
Warmth cocooned him from behind, and Logan murmured between kisses under his ear. “What are you thinking about, staring at that wall?”
Alexander leaned back into the embrace. “It needs something.”
He felt Logan’s smile against his throat.
“You grab the paint supplies, I’ll get naked.”
Alexander snorted and twisted in Logan’s arms, facing him. “I was thinking another man should go up there.”
Logan paled. “I never considered myself a jealous man. But here we are.”
Alexander lifted onto the balls of his feet and kissed him. “You have two pictures already. Wait right here.”
He left a frowning Logan staring at the empty wall and returned three minutes later with a large sheet-wrapped canvas and a box of tools.
He leaned the canvas against the wall, and Logan peeled back the folds. “He’s kinda old.”
“He’s my grandfather.”
Understanding softened Logan’s eyes. He recognized Alexander’s watch on his grandfather’s wrist. “This is the man for our wall.”
Logan helped Alexander mount the painting. They stepped back and admired it together.
“That was a long time coming,” Alexander said, stomach making excited sounds. “I’m famished.”
Logan shifted into the kitchen. “What do you feel like for dinner?”
“For old time’s sake, how about possum?”
