so boring.”

“Learning isn’t boring,” I interrupt. “Learning is the most important tool there is.”

I know. Learning to deal with my emotions is what’s led me back to my family.

“I know.” Walker wipes at his mouth.

Reaching over, I grab a wet nap and hand it to him.

“I know.” He tries again. “But it’s stuff I already know, so I get bored.”

“Wait, how do you already know it?”

“Because I read ahead when I’m bored.” He rolls his eyes.

“But if you read ahead when you’re bored, how can you be in trouble for not paying attention when you’re bored?” Dalton makes a face. “This makes no sense, Walker.”

“I’ve read the whole book.”

Dalton and I eye one another. “The whole thing?” I ask.

“Yeah, I get bored a lot.” He eats the last wing, closing his container. “There’s a lot of people in the class who don’t get it, so we go back and forth all the time. I spend a lot of my day waiting for other people to catch up.”

Again we look at each other, almost to say that’s our son.

“Maybe it’s time for a teacher conference?”

“They’re happening in a few weeks.” Walker wipes his hands off. “I’m sure she’ll have plenty to tell about me.”

The way he says it makes me laugh. “It all won’t be good, huh?”

“I mean, I am named after Grandpa Liam, right?”

Chapter Twenty-Six

Dalton

“He’s asleep,” I say as I walk back up from where the dorm rooms are.

“He’ll probably be out all night, he had a big day.” Mandy walks over, putting her arms around my waist.

“It’s been a big day for all of us,” I remind her.

“Glad we had cupcakes, though,” Caelin interrupts from the computer room.

Almost forgot he was here, but I may as well get used to him hanging around.

Who knows when he’ll be leaving. He keeps the weirdest hours I’ve ever seen.

“I’m gonna go take a shower, see you in a few minutes?” Mandy leans up, giving me a lingering kiss.

“I’ll be there as soon as I close up.”

Most everything is put away, but I waste a few minutes, making sure the trash is taken out and wiping down the counters. I don’t know why, but I’m nervous to be alone with her in my dorm. Maybe it’s because of the way we left each other the last time, or maybe this is something else totally different.

“Don’t work all night,” I tell him, turning off the lights in the main room.

“I won’t. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” He winks at me.

If the rumors are true, there’s not much that kid won’t do. Probably way more than I’ve ever thought about doing, if we’re being honest.

Slowly, I walk down the hallway.

Why am I acting like I’m walking to my death? My wife is in the shower, which means she’s naked. Immediately my body responds, cock growing hard against my zipper.

I haven’t seen her completely naked in way too long.

Thoughts of the last time we were together threaten to sour the mood, but I push those fuckers out. There’s only one thing I wanna hear tonight, and those are her moans as she comes for me.

When I get to the door, I stand outside, trying to calm myself down. It’s hard not to act like a teenager who hasn’t busted his first nut. The thought causes a smirk to spread across my face.

The woman in the room behind the door was the first one I masturbated to, and she’s been the only one I’ve ever had. Not to say I haven’t had opportunities, but I’ve never cheated on my wife.

Not even when we were kids.

Reaching down, I grip the knob, gently turning it before I walk into my dorm room.

Walking in tonight is different than any other time I’ve gone into this room. Immediately I smell her.

Coconut and flowers. If I didn’t know better, I would think we were at the beach. The water is still going in the shower. Sitting on the bed, I quickly take off my boots and socks, but instead of disrobing fully, I go into the bathroom and lean against the counter, waiting on her to come out.

The door to the shower is one of those frosted glass ones. If I tried real hard, I’d probably be able to make her out, but right now it’s just a tease. I can barely see movements, but I know what the mounds are in the front, when she runs her hands over them. The light in the bathroom allows me to make out
