His Other Half (Patches Tarkio MC, #3) - Debra Kayn Page 0,55
skip to the clubhouse, she'd do it if it meant seeing Paco.
When the car started, she relaxed in the seat. They usually took her car because it was in better shape than Cami's vehicle. Her old Honda was the first thing she ever bought for herself, and had worked four years during high school at the casino, saving every penny, to buy it as a reward for graduating with honors.
"I haven't taken very good care of my car." She blew out her breath. "I know how to check the oil, and I add some every few months, but since working at the body shop, I know there are filters and tune-ups that all vehicles need. I can't believe I was irresponsible with the only thing I have to get to work."
Cami glanced at her. "Well, you do have a man now. Paco can help you."
"I wouldn't want to bother him." She looked out the windshield. "He's so busy lately."
"Not too busy to come and visit you for an hour or two every night before riding off again." Cami grinned. "You better be careful, or you'll end up preggos."
"Stop." She laughed. "We're careful."
"So was I." Cami snorted. "But everything worked out okay. I'm happy."
"Does that happiness have to do with Chrischris?"
"Maybe." She turned onto the street, heading toward the clubhouse. "He's too good to be true. I'm not letting myself get my hopes up."
"But—"
"Nope." She shifted in the driver's seat. "The baby comes first, and what is good now might not be good after I deliver."
"I would think it would," she said softly.
"I don't know. A crying baby who needs me around the clock isn't exactly going to draw Chrischris closer to me." Cami pulled into the clubhouse. "Though I'll admit, I'm excited to see him tonight. I just wish that...Oh, nevermind."
"What?"
Cami sighed. "We haven't had sex. I don't think he wants to because I'm pregnant."
"Maybe he's waiting."
"Maybe, but I see how the other bikers act. They're like the Energizer bunnies hopping on any girl who walks by them at the clubhouse." Cami glanced at her. "I want him. Just once. You know, to see how it is with him. It's not natural to go without sex after all these months of seeing each other."
She smiled, knowing the feeling.
At one time, the clubhouse and the bikers made her feel uncomfortable. Over time, she'd grown accustomed to how they looked and acted, and got to know a lot of them when they watched over her and Cami.
But none of them made her feel like Paco. There was always an attraction to him. From the start, she had no self-control around him. It was all or nothing.
The moment the car came to a stop, she got out. A sense of relief always came over her around the clubhouse. She knew there was a real need to stay safe as long as Askook was alive and thought he owned her, but at work, the clubhouse, and being around Paco, she could breathe.
"Wait for me." Cami hurried around the car and grabbed her hand.
Going inside, she looked around for Paco. The place was packed. Bikers were drinking. Women were dancing. Music blared. Smoke wafted heavily in the air.
Chrischris approached them, leaned down, and spoke in Cami's ear. Her friend turned to her and motioned outside. Wanting to find Paco, she nodded and pointed that she was staying. She understood that Cami hated being around the smoke.
Moving out of the way of two bikers roughhousing, she walked through the crowd, searching for the one man who made her happy.
She found Paco in the hallway with his back to her as he talked with Curley and Priest. Her toes curled in her need to go and touch him.
He was formidable and sexy. The hours away from him only made her excitement higher to be with him.
She inhaled deeply, knowing he'd smell of leather, outdoors, and the faint scent of tobacco the closer she got to him. Her stomach fluttered, and she caught her lip. It'd been over twelve hours since she'd seen him, and she wanted to know everything he'd done, thought, felt, during their time apart.
She craved to see her own desires reflected back in his gaze and experience the desperation she felt every second of the day.
She wanted to hold him and touch him.
Curley caught sight of her and lifted his chin. Paco slowly turned and spotted her. His gaze warmed, and he turned away from the others. That was her sign that she could
