His Curvy Bride - Nichole Rose Page 0,9
with this man.
He's dressed in dark jeans that hug his powerful thighs and a Henley. Those sapphire blue eyes and his beard make him look wicked. I was not prepared for how much hotter he is in person. Or how much bigger. I barely reach his chest, and I could probably fit between his shoulder blades.
"You really think that one is it?" I ask, tilting my head so I can see him.
He grins at me, his blue eyes lighting up. "Yeah, angel, I really do." He unwinds his arm from around my waist to pull off his headset. "Come on. I'll show you."
I hang my headset on the peg and then place my hand in his, letting him lead me out of the isolation booth into the live room. He seems to like holding my hand. He rarely lets it go for more than a few minutes.
Riley and Kasen are in the control room with Soren and another guy I don't know. Riley gives me a thumbs up as we make our way across the live room and then out into the control room.
"Holy shit," she says, rushing over toward us, her gray eyes huge. "You sound amazing!"
"Yeah, she does," Bentley agrees, still not letting go of my hand.
"I'll pay you a million dollars to sing backup for me," Kasen says.
I blink at him, not sure if he's serious or if he's joking. It's hard to tell with him. He's a little less crazy now that he's got Olivia back, but he's still Kasen. I think he's serious this time though. He certainly looks like he means it.
"Fuck no," Bentley growls, glaring at him. His body tenses like he thinks Kasen is going to drag me away from him. "She isn't fucking singing with you. She's mine."
I don't think he means that the way it sounds, but my body seems to like the idea of being his. Heat whispers through me, tightening my nipples into hard peaks.
Kasen grins, his dimple popping out. Amusement dances in his hazel eyes. "Now you get it, huh?" he asks, laughing quietly. "Asshole."
Bentley grunts, pulling me closer to him.
Riley's gaze bounces between the two of us at light speed and then she nods like she's satisfied??hough I have no idea why. I think she's up to something. She has that look in her eyes. The one that never, ever bodes well for me.
"You ready to hear this one?" Soren asks Bentley before Riley can say anything.
Bentley pulls me toward the audio mixer, with Riley and Kasen following behind us. He still doesn't let me go. Instead, he shuffles me in front of him, wrapping an arm around my waist like he did in the isolation room.
I try hard not to melt into him, but it's no use. It's like my body refuses to listen when I tell it to do something. It's all for snuggling up against this giant of a man and letting him hold me as if we're a couple. I've never been that, never had someone who wanted to hang on to me. It's addicting.
Soren queues up the song and lets it play. I know they still have to mix it or whatever to get what they need and put it all together, but we sound good together??eally good. It's hard to believe that's my voice coming through the speakers set up throughout the room. It's clear and strong, melding with Bentley's like we've been singing together for years instead of for a couple of hours. And his voice is absolutely phenomenal.
"That's the one," he says again when it ends. "We're keeping it."
"I agree," Soren says. "I need to adjust a couple things to keep the piano from playing over her voice through the bridge and then I'll send it to the studio for approval." His gaze comes to me before shifting to Riley. "I assume you'll be representing her?"
"Representing me? I'm just singing backup for this one track."
Everyone gets quiet.
"No, little dove," Bentley says with a frown, his brows furrowing. Little lines crinkle the corners of his eyes. "We're keeping this version. It's a duet now."
"What? No, it's not. I thought we were just?? I trail off as I notice everyone watching us intently without actually looking at us. My stomach turns a somersault. I thought we were just running through it like we were so they could isolate the best background vocals and mix it together.
Christ on a cracker. He's serious.
Panic courses through me.
"No, no way." I shake my head,
