Her Dirty Teachers - Mika Lane Page 0,24

Chase said, laughing. “She just joined my French class.”

She had each of us as an instructor now. This was some wild shit.

“Guys. She’s amazing. She works really hard. She’s up against these kids who’ve studied languages all their lives and joined French 101 for an easy A.” he said.

I remained silent. Which was a mistake.

“What, Benno?” Jamie said. “You got something going on with her?” he asked.

I debated how much detail to share. I didn’t have anything ‘going on with her.’ But I sure had kissed her.

“Nope. What about you, Jamie?” I asked.

He looked around the room with one raised eyebrow like he always did when he was thinking. “I’d like to get to know her better. If she’s open to it.”

I looked at Chase. “Me, too,” he said.

And I was me three, if I were going to be honest.

Chase beamed. “Go for it. Both of you. I’ve shared women with friends before. It’s awesome. And super hot.”

Of course Chase had done something like that before, as free-spirited as he was.

Jamie nodded.

But I almost choked on my calamari.

“Huh? Share? Like, we all date her?” I asked.

Chase leaned back in his chair, holding his hands up like a stop sign. “Hey. It’s just an option. If you’re not cool with it, no problem.”

Was I not cool with it? And if so, what was it that bothered me about it—the idea of dating a woman who my friends were also dating?

Who the hell does that?

“I… I guess I could think about it,” I said.

“Dude. You have to get rid of that old paradigm where each person has only one partner. That’s so dated.”

Exactly what I would expect Chase to say.

But Jamie spoke up. “Yup, I’ve been there. Worked out great, until the woman moved back to France.”

“Why’d she leave?” Chase asked.

Jamie pressed his lips together resignedly. “She fell in love with one of us. She didn’t want to break the group up. So she split. I wasn’t happy about it, but it was her prerogative. You know?”

Chase nodded.

So this ‘sharing’ business was really a thing. I could deal with that. Or so I hoped.

“I’ll tell you what, guys. Let’s each get to know her, letting her know we are aware of the others. See what happens,” I said, hardly believing what I was saying.

I had a feeling once we did that, none of us would end up with her. But it was a gamble I was willing to take.

Chapter 20

SENNA

After Adler’s kiss the night we had coffee, I couldn’t stop thinking about him. It was pissing me off. And what was getting further under my skin was that I needed to stop by his office to turn in a late assignment. I wasn’t at all convinced I could resist him if I had to.

Which I guess was part of the reason I went. Truthfully, I didn’t have to drop off my paper. I’d already emailed it. I wanted to drop it off.

And he was probably going to see right through me.

Still didn’t stop me, though.

When I arrived, his office door was closed. I could hear a conversation from the other side, and it included a woman’s voice, talking and laughing.

I knocked quietly, both hoping and not hoping I was interrupting something.

The door flew open, and the same beautiful woman I’d seen him with at the gym stood there, looking me up and down.

Really?

“Yes?” she said flatly.

Well.

“I have an appointment with Professor Adler,” I said, trying to look past her.

“Senna,” Adler said, coming up behind the woman, “come on in. This is Professor Moretti. Her office is just next door to mine,” he said, somewhere out in the hallway.

She stepped aside to let me in but was in no hurry to leave. “Okay, Benno,” she said casually, “I’ll let you get on with it. But hey, Molly and I would love to have you to dinner soon. Bring a date if you want.”

She turned to slip past me out the door, looking me up and down again before she did.

Adler closed the door behind her.

“Friendly, isn’t she?” I asked.

He chuckled. “Don’t mind her. She’s like a big sister. Overprotective. And nosy.”

So were they an item? Or not?

I took a seat and began to rummage through my backpack. “I saw you two in the gym.”

He nodded. “Yeah, she’s a big jock. Her wife is one of the coaches here at the university.”

Wife? Okay. So not a love interest for Adler.

That was a weight off my shoulders. It shouldn’t have been, but it was.

“She sure
