Helpless (Steel Demons MC #5) - Crystal Ash Page 0,103

feet tucking underneath me as I leaned into him. I’d been craving this like a drug ever since the first time, feeling like I was protected by the strongest shield, while also melting into his gentleness and warmth.

Only this time was different, and we both knew it.

I lifted my face to his. He kept his arm along the back of the bench instead of wrapping it around me, his lips hovering close enough for me to taste the soft puffs of breath. Some guys doubted a girl’s intentions down to the last moments, and I knew Shadow second-guessed himself plenty. So I decided to leave no room for doubt, and closed the distance between my mouth and his.

Shadow’s lips were soft, more pliant than I imagined. But he didn’t move, didn’t respond to the soft presses of my mouth.

I pulled away for a moment, finding his eyes. “Is something wrong?”

“No. I…just…”

I reached up, finally giving in to pushing his hair away and exposing his beautiful face. “You’ve never kissed anyone?”

His eyes dropped from mine, stiffness entering his body as he started to pull away from me. That was all the answer I needed, but I wasn’t about to let him withdraw this time.

“I can teach you.” I wrapped a hand around the back of his neck, gently stopping his retreat. “How does that sound?”

He leaned into my hand on his neck, but didn’t pull away further, despite being plenty strong enough. “Okay.”

A smile pulled at my lips. God, he was so hot. Sexy, dark, and dangerous, yet adorably innocent. “Okay. Just follow what I do. This is stage one.”

I leaned in until our mouths touched again, then pursed my lips to press a closed-mouth kiss on his top lip. He copied the movement on my bottom lip, and it sent a jolt straight to my heart. I had a feeling he’d be a fast learner and that proved to be true. He caught onto the rhythm of exchanging soft pecks after only a few tries.

“Stage two,” I whispered, keeping my lips parted as I pulled his top lip between mine.

He released a soft groan as he sucked lightly at my bottom lip, his kiss in perfect sync with mine. My lower half was thoroughly jelly now, while my top half pulsed with heat, with desire I was sick of holding back.

I didn’t even have to say stage three. Our tongues simply met in the middle, gentle taps and exploratory licks growing deeper, bolder as this heady rush carried us like a tidal wave. My leg slid over his lap as I came to straddle him. His hands came to my hips, then quickly dropped away.

“Yes, please. Touch me.” I grabbed his hands and returned them to me. “I want you to.”

A moan came from deep in his chest, our teeth clicking from our hardest kiss yet, as he wrapped one arm around my waist and the other caressed up my spine. I couldn’t get enough of his hair, running my fingers through it as my other hand rested on his chest. His heart pounded like a drum against my palm, matching the beat of my own pulse.

“You’re a natural kisser,” I murmured, pausing for a breath despite wanting to kiss him until I passed out.

Still, he looked puzzled. Uneasy, despite his body language proving he wanted this just as much as I did.

“What’s wrong?” I pressed a deliberate kiss to the scar cutting through his eyebrow.

“Why are you doing this with me?” That question and his resulting flinch from my kiss sent a painful ache through my chest.

“Because not only do I like you as a person, I’m also ridiculously attracted to you.” I wrapped both hands around his neck, my fingers pressing into the knots behind his shoulders. He still had some stiffness there from the arrows tearing through his muscles.

“How?” Despite his bewilderment at what I said, his hard expression slackened with my touch.

“How can I not be, is a better question.” I leaned in to kiss him again, his lips catching and savoring my mouth in a way that sent fluttering down to my toes. “You’re strong, you’re caring. You’re smart and creative. You’re loyal and selfless.” I rested my forehead on his, letting my mouth hover an inch away. “And you’re so fucking hot. Why do you think I stared at you so hard that I spilled beer on your table that day?”

“Because my scars are ugly and make me look like a freak.”

“No, love.” I
