I could only imagine how he was capturing me and itched to see it when he was done.
This drawing would be a rare glimpse from Shadow's perspective, I realized. The tattoos he did were a reflection of his clients, but this drawing would be a reflection of him. I wanted so badly to know how he saw me.
Neither of us spoke. I didn't dare break the magic of watching him work, and it was over far too quickly.
"It's rough, but I think it's done," he said, straightening up. "I'll clean it up when we get back."
"Can I see?" I was already scooting toward him on the grass, spinning to sit next to him for a peek. "Oh, Shadow!" I gasped.
He drew me in a pin-up style, not quite cartoony, but not entirely lifelike either. The face was definitely me, the nose and lips exactly like mine, eyes large and looking straight at the observer with a coy smile. He redesigned the T-shirt into a crop top, intentionally showing off some belly with killer waist and hip proportions that I wished were real. Legs stretched out long and shapely, hugged by form-fitting jeans with rips in the knees, just like my real ones.
"She's so cute!" I squeaked. "And sexy. She belongs in a magazine."
"She is you," he said with a soft laugh on my cheek. "Do you like it?"
"I love it. If this is rough, I can't imagine what cleaning it up will look like."
"It's just me being a perfectionist," he said. "It’ll look even better when I add shading and stuff."
My hands wrapped around his bicep, hugging his massive arm. "Aren't you glad I made you tell me?"
"Yes," he chuckled, lips finding mine again. "I am."

The chickens were making their way into the coop for the night when I heard the rumble of Shadow’s bike returning with my Mariposita.
I rubbed a hand over my head, chicken logistics blurring in my brain. We had a total of nine as of yesterday. This morning I found three more freshly hatched chicks under a mother hen. Damn Foghorn was getting busy.
With the colder weather up here, I’d have to look into some heat lamps that wouldn’t hurt the birds or catch the whole coop on fire. If the eggs kept hatching faster than I could collect them, I might even have to make a brooder and bring the smallest ones inside when winter got really cold.
Who the hell was I? Vice president of a biker gang and a chicken farmer? If someone told me a year ago this was what I’d be doing, I would have laughed my ass off.
The bike engine cut off, then Mari and Shadow’s footsteps walked through the B&B. Their voices were low, meant only for each other. I listened for the direction of Mari’s footsteps as Shadow went to his room, wondering if she still wanted space or would join me outside.
Moments later the rickety back door opened, and my smiling woman crossed the patio to me.
“Someone looks happy.” I patted my thigh in an invitation for her to sit.
She parked that cute ass on my leg and wrapped her arms around my shoulders, kissing me deep and hungry, like she missed me.
“Where are the others?” she asked in a soft whisper.
“Out drinkin’.” I laced my hands over her hip. “Honestly, I was a little over-socialized from this morning too. Don’t blame you for having a little getaway.”
“Really?” Her forehead dropped to mine. “I’m not neglecting you?”
“Not for a moment.” I took a nibble of her plump lower lip. “Although I would like to take over your next riding lesson.”
“Deal,” she grinned. “You can show me how to take a bike apart and put it back together too.”
“That’ll take a bit longer than learning how to ride but,” I swatted her hip, “I’m happy to show you what’s in my toolbox.”
“Don’t make this sound like a weird porno,” she laughed, slapping my chest.
“Why not? It’s the perfect setting for it.” The thought of her covered in grease and digging into an engine with me did turn me on like nothing else.
“Only in your mind,” she teased, fingers swirling with delicious pressure into my neck.
“Fine. I think I’m partial to shower sex anyway.” I slid my hands up her back, rubbing into areas I knew would be sore from the ride. “So what were you and Shadow-man up to?”
“Not much, really. Just a ride out to a private place to sit and talk.”
She was nervous. Fidgeting. Clearly holding something
