of his betrayal.

This was Hell alright.

My personal one!

“What is it ?!” I pratically barked at him the moment I realised his response to this hadn’t been his usual, ‘there has been no word, my Lord’ but instead silence… until then finally,

“I have received word from my men.” I sucked in a breath and closed my eyes, waiting for whatever news was to befall on me now.

“And did they find them? Did they reach the portal?” I asked knowing that there was only one portal that would have been safe to use to get back to my realm. It was also the reason why I had my men stationed there at the ready for them. However, in that time one of Carn’reau’s men must have reached back to him with word.

“Speak!” I ordered through clenched teeth with my fangs pressing painfully into my lip.

“I am sorry, my Lord, but there is no sign of them and nor has there been any evidence of them ever making it through the portal,” he said giving me the reason behind his reluctance.

“Then something must have gone wrong,” I said after growling and snarling the word,

“FUCK!” This was before swiping everything that was on the desk to the floor, hating that this was being done in what was or had essentially been, my brother’s office, a place where he had stationed himself to rule in my stead. It only ended up being a sickening reminder as to what he had done, for I still couldn't understand it! I couldn’t understand why, what more fucking power did he need! What more could he possibly want! I was never fucking here!

And speaking of who else wasn’t here,

“What is being done?!” I asked gritting out the words as I leant over the desk with my taloned hands curling long gouged slices out of the stone desk. Because I felt as if I was falling. As if I was spiralling out of control and falling into a deep pit of despair. That I was drowning in it trying to drag my way out. Yet, in reality, all I was doing was looking down at the top of the desk, trying to find my Chosen One in Hell.

Yeah, that was all, I thought bitterly.

“Avarolo made the decision to keep half of our men at the portal in case they make it through.”

“And what of the other half?” I asked knowing I would go bat shit crazy if he told me they were on their way back here. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case, for I shouldn’t have underestimated the commander of my armies. I knew this when he informed me,

“They're on their way to the town after first acquiring a portal master to make it through. I'm yet to hear back from them but feel as if we will have a better picture of what happened once the town has been interrogated.”

“Make sure it is it is thorough,” I added like the cold hearted bastard I was.

“I instructed as much,” Carn’reau said only now seemingly disappointed that he couldn't give me more. But I cared little for that in that moment or his sentiments. No, all I could focus on was questioning what the next fucked up shit was that had happened to her this time? All I could hope for was that whatever had befallen upon them she, at the very least, had three of the strongest shifters in Hell protecting her. This was my only consolation, for I owned their souls and right now I was willing to do anything to get my Chosen One back. Meaning that one thing the McBain brothers better hope for was that when they did finally get back here, they had my Queen with them, for if not, I didn't know how long those souls would last against my fury.

“I hate to ask, my Lord, but…”

“Don't!” I warned, knowing of which he spoke, which was why I rose to my full height and started walking from the room.

“My Lord?” He questioned where I was going and I looked behind my shoulder and told him,

“I am going to speak with my brother… and this time, I will tear a confession out of him!”

Even if it meant…

Cursing my Soul.

Brother’s Betrayal

“You look like shit, brother.” This was the first thing Dariush said to me when I walked into his cell after he had lifted his weary head. I released a deep breath, one that was both in relief at seeing that he was still where I
