Heart Of Darkness (Transfusion Saga #10) - Stephanie Hudson Page 0,101

why this was, as it was always the same after we'd been apart for any length of time. Lucius wanted to keep the connection strong between us and the exchange of blood was the way to do that. It was as if the beast inside him pushed at him to do it, that the demon craved it as much as he craved me, because it wasn't some animalistic need to drink blood in order to survive. The tales of vampires were far from the truth. No, the exchange of blood was more like a deep-rooted need and for Lucius, it was a deep-rooted need to keep that connection with me as strong as it could possibly be.

As when Lucius said that he owned me, that I was his, body, mind, soul, and heart, well, he was someone who took those things quite literally. But, opening my eyes now and seeing his handsome face looking down at me, with those usual stern features now soft and tender, I released a dreamy sigh. Because he was lowering those incredible eyes down my face as if scanning every inch of me and marvelling at what he saw. And for the sight of him, well, as beautiful as the realm of Fae was, there was honestly nothing to compare with the sight that met me now.

The man I loved.

“I would say good morning, handsome, but I have no idea what time it is.” At this Lucius smirked before telling me,

“It is time I take you home, sweetheart, that is what time it is.” I hummed at how nice that sounded before asking,

“How long was I asleep?” I questioned stretching out my arms on a yawn.

“Not long,” was his soft answer, making me look at him as if there was something wrong, which was why I asked by saying his name.

“Lucius?”

“You were taken from me again, Amelia.” His pained admission caused me pain and I didn't know what to do other than hug him back and hold him tight. He soon got the hint and wrapped his arms around me, holding me close. Thankfully, this was made easier considering he was now lying naked next to me with not a shred of his demonic armour in sight. But both sides of him were what I believed to be living perfection, demon or the human vessel that lay naked in my arms.

“I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere, not without you.” I felt him take a deep breath and cradle my head to his chest, tucking the top of my head under his chin, with my cheek close to his heart, one that offered me the comforting sound of it beating.

That's when I whispered to him,

“I'm not letting you out of my sight.” At least I felt him chuckle once, before pulling back on my hair a little so that I was looking up at him.

“That's usually my line,” he teased.

“I mean it, Lucius, I am in, three billion percent,” I told him making him frown slightly in question.

“What are you saying, Amelia?” he asked after my strange declaration.

“I'm talking about opening every can of worms there is. I'm talking about quitting my job and moving to Germany, living in your castle or Transfusion or wherever you want me, I'm in… I'm in, three billion percent.” At this I was rewarded with the biggest grin yet before he bit his bottom lip as if trying to hold back his laughter. But then his face got low, closer to me so he could whisper over my cheek,

“As sweet as that is to hear, I am afraid I raise your three billion percent by my infinity, for I will never let you go. Wherever you are, I will come for you as you may have been born for me and fated to hold my heart… but you were made to rule with me and that is exactly where I want you, always.”

“Oh, Lucius!” I threw my arms around his neck and buried my face there, letting myself once again get teary.

“Ssshh, come now, I am here, let me care for you.” This turned out to be him biting into his own fingers, doing so hard enough for them to pool with blood. Then he snaked his hand down in between us and I ended up crying out at the shock when suddenly I was penetrated by his two fingers. Fingers now coated in his blood.

“Ahhh,” I moaned around the sweet and divine intrusion and found myself rocking
