Hawk (Reckless Kings MC #2) - Harley Wylde Page 0,54
Freya from the back of the SUV, I realized they were right to have me stay here. My girls needed me.
Waiting to hear back wasn’t the easiest thing. Even with Hayley trying to distract me, I kept an eye on the phone, waiting for a text or call. Anything to say they’d caught the guy. When it finally chimed with a text from Forge, my heart kicked in my chest.
He’s here. You have ten minutes.
“Baby, stay here and lock the door. I’ll be back soon.”
I dashed out the door before she could stop me, jumped on my Harley, and headed for the back of the property. I knew it’s where they’d have taken him. Far enough, Hayley wouldn’t hear the man scream. Or anyone else for that matter.
I didn’t know what I’d expected, but the scrawny man tied to a chair wasn’t it. He looked strung out and half starved. This was the idiot who’d put Hayley in danger?
“He had the tracker on the car,” Forge said. “We reactivated it after we moved the vehicle. He came to it like a fly to honey.”
“He say anything?” I asked.
“Claims he stashed the drugs with the intention of getting them when he thought it was safe. He didn’t count on Hayley losing her job, much less leaving town. Sent him into a bit of a panic,” Forge said.
“The Bartinellis want their drugs,” I said. “You put my woman and daughter in danger because you’re a fucking coward.”
“Don’t matter. You’re going to kill me anyway,” he said, his words slurring.
“No. I won’t. I’m going to make you bleed and wish you were dead, but I’m going to leave the killing blow to the Bartinellis.”
He paled and started pleading. I didn’t give a shit. Hayley could have been killed if the Bartinellis discovered she had their drugs. They wouldn’t have cared if she knew about them or not.
I pulled the knife from my boot, the same one I’d used to capture the asshole who’d been stalking Hayley. I slammed it into Seb’s thigh. He screamed and thrashed. I pulled the blade free before stabbing the other leg. I left shallow cuts along his chest and torso and sliced his cheek all the way down to his jaw. I’d have tortured him for hours if I’d been given the time.
“Hawk, we need to get him to the exchange location,” Forge said. “Can’t do that if you keep going. He won’t be bothering Hayley anymore. Your family is safe.”
I sank my knife into both arms and slashed the backs of his hands before I took a step back. With a nod, I let Forge untie him and take him away. I had blood on my hands and splattered on my jeans. I didn’t want to go home like this. If Hayley saw me with blood on me…
I went to Beast’s house and knocked on the door. Lyssa answered, took one look at me, and waved me inside. “You certainly can’t let her see you like that. You look like you’ve been on a murder spree.”
“That’s why I didn’t go home and came here,” I said.
“Beast’s clothes won’t fit you, but you can’t exactly be picky right now.”
“I just need to wash the blood off my skin. Then I need you to call Hayley, find a way to lure her to the backyard, so I can slip through the house and get out of these clothes.”
Lyssa sighed. “Fine. I’ll do it.”
I kissed her cheek. “Thanks, Lyssa. You’re one in a million.”
“Yeah, yeah. Go wash and get out of my house.” She smiled to soften her words.
I hadn’t gotten the vengeance I wanted for my family, but it would have to do. As long as Seb and the Bartinellis wouldn’t be an issue anymore, I’d have to be content with the blood I drew. I hoped giving a bloody and broken Seb to the Bartinellis would send a message. I wouldn’t tolerate anyone coming for my family, no matter how well connected they were. Hayley was a no-fly zone and the surest way to end up in an unmarked grave. I wouldn’t hesitate to defend my woman and kid, no matter how many bodies started piling up.

Hayley
I saw Lyssa’s name pop up on my phone. Hawk had programmed the entire club in so I could reach someone in the case of an emergency. Except, I didn’t want to answer. The doctor’s office had placed me on hold three minutes ago and I wasn’t about to risk
