clearing where Dacron had disappeared. “That’s what that Dacron guy was saying wasn’t it? You are one half witch. That is why your former Alpha tried to kill you isn’t it? That is how you can get a human pregnant.” Keith squatted an looked Hendrix in the eyes. “Do you know what this means for us?”
“Yeah. Mia is going to kill you for getting me stabbed. You mate is going to kill me for getting you shot. Gammon is going to kill all of us for upsetting Mia. The pack is going to rip these two to shreds for the whole mess.”
“Whoa buddy, I didn’t do the stabbing. I didn’t get you stabbed. You are the one who grabbed little missy here without checking to see if she had any weapons.”
“I am not little missy and I am not little girl. My name is Gracie. Use it or I will rip your dick off and feed it to you.”
Halo winced. “She will too. I watched her feed a man his dick once. Not a pretty sight. Nightmares for weeks. Still wake up in a cold sweat sometimes.”
Keith stood up and backed away. “Hendrix, think about it. Gammon said that the leader of the Calian race is demanding, no wait I have that backwards. The leader of the Reliant race demanded the queen of the Calian race dilute the blood by marrying humans. Now if a Calian can mate with a shifter and produce a shifter and the child of a hybrid can mate with a human and produce a shifter, then our people can mate the Calians and get more shifters. Well, I mean, no, that won’t work will it? Is it a true-mating?”
Hendrix shrugged. “I don’t know. I didn’t know I was a hybrid and I don’t remember my mother enough to know how her relationship was with my dad. She died before my dad.”
“Stop!” Gracie screamed. She was breathing hard and looked near panic. “Who are the Calians and Relients? What is going on? Halo, where are you going?”
Keith turned to see Halo scooting away toward the woods, “Yeah, where are you going?”
“I have no idea. My body just started moving when my mind figured out that besides you people there are at least two more races not quite human around. Survival instinct I think.”
“You were going to leave me?”
“Not by choice. Told you, my body moved involuntarily without me noticing. It does that when things like this happens.”
“Nothing like this has ever happened to us before.” Gracie told him.
“I know, that’s why my retreat took me by surprise.” Halo blushed.
“Now,” Gracie turned back to Hendrix after glaring at Halo, “the Calians and Relients.”
“It is Reliant and they are one of two space going races on this planet. Well, the Calians were space going but fled a war and landed on our planet. The Reliants landed here later and until recently the two races didn’t know about the other race being on the planet.”
“So the guy that popped out of nowhere and disappeared into nowhere?”
“Reliant.”
“And the Calians, he said you are half Calian. What is the other half? Human?”
“No. Half shifter, half Calian.”
And the Reliant leader told the queen she has to dilute her race why?”
“I believe the order was dilute or die.”
“And the queen of the race will listen to him why?”
“They are mated. She either gives the order to dilute the race or they destroy our planet.”
“Who destroys our planet?”
“The Reliants and whoever else they call.”
“Why?”
“Because the Calians are dangerous. They are the most dangerous race out there. They were chased from their home world because they are so dangerous. Other races kill them where they find them. Men, women and children, or at least that is what I heard.” Keith told her.
“So you are half of this race the other race wants dead?”
“Twelve.” Keith said.
“Twelve what?”
“Twelve other races want his people dead. Or was it thirteen?”
“How many fucking alien races are there?” Halo asked.
Hendrix shrugged. “How would I know? I have been in Tanzania for the last few months. I had never seen a Reliant till Dacron stepped out of his spaceship.”
“Spaceship,” Gracie muttered. “I think I need to lay down for awhile. I don’t feel so good.”
“Can’t. We have to figure out what to do.”
“No, we don’t. This is too much. I need some space. I have to think.”
“You can think all you want as soon as I figure out how to keep Gammon and Mia from killing you, oh and Halo too.”
“I would
