The Girl Who Fell From The Sky - Rebecca Royce Page 0,64

much space between us as he required to meet my gaze, “is everything I need.”

I bit my bottom lip, and then let it out slowly. “Rest. I think I was going to suggest rest.”

He frowned. “Have I pleasured you incorrectly?”

“Um, no. I am thinking of you here. Or maybe of both of us. Didn’t we fight a war today or something?”

His frown dissolved into a beatific smile. A lock of damp hair slipped over his brow, giving him a rakish look. “We did. You were magnificent—have I mentioned that? No running for you, brandishing that sword like a warrior. I was so proud.”

I had been warm from his touch before, but his words warmed all the parts of me that weren’t even physical. “I was, too. I still am. But, erm, war.”

“I wouldn’t call what happened today a war,” he said, unthreading our hands and moving up to lie beside me. He snagged a blanket and covered us. “More like a skirmish, or a very stupid attempt to kidnap you.”

“But I thought the fighting was over—you guys won and get rights to the farm. The fighting was supposed to stop. Or am I reading this all wrong?” I pressed close against him, hooking one leg over his hip and stroking the back of his thigh with my heel. But lazily. No pressure.

“The truth is the fighting never truly stops. True, our big battles are over for the season, but we must remain vigilant, especially now that you’re here.”

There was a note of desperation in his voice, and it made me feel precious, worthy. Then he dipped his head, and without another word, placed all of that desperate focus right where I hadn’t realized I wanted it—my pussy.

I didn’t know what to do with my hands as I squirmed, wanting more and somehow less at the same time. More because it felt so good, and less because I couldn’t imagine anything being more intimate than this, more invasive in a way. I had no secrets from him right then, no ability to hide anything.

He moaned against me, using that tongue to… Wow. Yes. Did he actually like this? His hips jerked against the bed, and I smiled. Yes, it appeared that he did. Nox was getting as much out of this as I was.

I cried out. No, maybe not. I was probably still getting more. But then I couldn’t think at all. My noises must have spurred him forward. He was kissing me everywhere, saying my name again and again. It had never sounded so beautiful on anyone’s lips as Nox’s.

With a jerk, he lined up on top of me and pressed himself deep within me. I cried out again, this time digging my fingers into his back. He’d have marks. I wore his, and now he’d wear mine, at least temporarily.

In and out, our bodies seemed to dance together. We’d wanted slow, but it wasn’t a night for that. Or maybe it wasn’t a life for that. I didn’t care. I had him with me now, making this happen.

His moans joined my own, and soon the bed slammed against the wall in loud bangs. For all the almost violence of the joining, when I came, it was on the sweetest surrender, an easy pull of pleasure that wasn’t hard to reach. His own came like a sigh, my name on his mouth, as we held each other like neither one of us ever wanted to let go.

Nox leaned over, kissing right over my heart. When he spoke, it was in a soft voice, not looking at my face but right into my chest. “Keep beating. Don’t ever stop.”

I ran my hands through his soft hair that was slowly drying under my fingertips. We might both need another shower. I smiled at the thought.

He lifted himself off of me to settle next to me on the bed, and my gaze fell on the books in the corner. I had to tell them about my prison ship discovery tomorrow. I would. Unless we got attacked again, in which case it could wait. It had lasted this long, and truth was, it might not make any difference at all.

Nox pulled me against him, spooning me from behind. He yanked the covers over us. “When we cool down, it will get cold in here.”

I nodded. Maybe I’d lost the ability to speak. I closed my eyes and let him hold me, expecting sleep to come fast. The room was quiet, and soon, Nox’s breathing
