huh?" I murmured to Kate.

"Yeah, he thinks he knows everything, just remember what we practiced the other day, we'll be fine."

Kate and I stood in the back of the room and sang along trying to work out little dance moves, hip sways and hand motions so we wouldn't be standing still once we got on stage. She thought it was important to seem natural but in sync with each other to make it look more polished. I just didn't want to look like I didn't belong, so I followed her lead and things were going okay. We ran through a bunch of songs until Danny called it a day for everyone saying he had to go.

"God, he's so full of himself. We should kick him out," Kate announced.

"Only one problem there sis, it's not your band," Spencer called out from behind his drums.

"I'm a much better lead singer than he is any day."

"Yeah, like he said Kate, it's not your band," George said quietly backing up Spencer.

"Whatever. Are you guys stopping then?"

"Yeah, George and I were working on something separately, so it would seem that it's quitting time for you."

"Yeah, you guys think you're so awesome just because Spencer got you that bar gig."

"He did what now?" I asked Jon.

"Spencer just told us this morning he knows someone that's a manager at that Irish pub on Main Street and they are looking to have live music on the weekends so he signed us up for this Saturday night."

"That's awesome! Can I come watch?"

"Yes!" He seemed relieved. He later explained to me that Kate was trying to get in on the show too but the rest of the guys just weren't having it. Which was why she was being a little difficult.

"God, I don't know how she has the nerve to do it, I already feel like I'm crashing the party just being here now. I don't think George likes me very much."

"George likes you just fine, he just doesn't talk much."

"Oh. Well, are you heading off to work?"

"Yeah, ready to go?"

"Sure, I guess I'll go home and sew for a while."

"Cool. Later guys."

"Bye Lucy, it was so nice to see you again!" Spencer shouted at me.

"You too Spencer!" I waved an overly enthusiastic goodbye and followed Jon up the stairs. We headed in the direction of his work, holding hands and swinging them, talking about how excited he was to have a real show coming up.

"It's how it gets started," I told him. "First its some local talent show, then you're playing weddings, now it's a night at the bar and next thing you know it you're live at some huge stadium with thousands of adoring fans. Some day I'll be sitting alone at home going yep, I remember that Jon, he was such a nice boy, until he forgot all about me for his fortune and fame."

"I would never forget about you," he said squeezing my hand. "We don't even have a name, I don't know how they are going to introduce us."

"They can just skip that and you guys can just start playing without a proper introduction."

"You think so? But how will people know us?"

"I think Spencer is pretty memorable, they'll be like, oh yeah it's those guys with the crazy drummer."

"I don't know if that's the best way to be remembered."

"Well, I'm sure they will remember the hot guitarist too."

"Oh you think so?"

"Mm-hmm, in fact I think I need to bring a stick with me to keep all the groupies off of you."

"Groupies?"

"Oh yeah, they'll all be lining up to get into your pants, I'm pretty sure."

He laughed at me and said, "Thanks, I really appreciate that. You are such a threatening body guard."

"Hey, a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do."

"Well, I'm hoping you don't have to resort to physical violence. Anyway, we're here," he said bending over to give me a kiss. I grabbed him and made it last a little longer with a little bit more tongue involved. He reluctantly pulled me off and told me he'd see me tomorrow and headed inside.

"Why don't you get a room next time, you little whore?" someone shouted from across the street once Jon was safely behind closed doors. I turned and felt any sense of good feelings I had quickly dissolve away. Julian was standing with a few friends laughing at his hilarity. I looked down at the ground and forced myself to walk. "Shame, shame, we know your name!" he taunted and
