Four Letter Word (Love Logic #2) - K.M. Neuhold Page 0,114

slideshow. For years, it didn’t even occur to me to be jealous of Hudson for growing up with so much money they could afford not one but two lavish houses. It wasn’t until we hit high school that my resentment tainted the fond memories of this place. By then I was working two jobs through the summer and couldn’t come up here anyway, which made me all the more bitter when Hudson and Bishop would take off for a week or two and return bronzed and happy.

Hudson leads us down the long hallway to the master bedroom. It’s on the opposite side of the house from all the other bedrooms, and when we were kids, it was off limits. I’m guessing so his parents could have a sanctuary away from all of our energy and noise.

He opens the door, revealing a large bedroom with the biggest bed I’ve ever seen. A bed that will no doubt fit all four of us. Isn’t the only draw, either. There’s a set of double doors leading to a balcony overlooking a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains surrounding it.

“Wow, this is incredible,” Bishop says, tossing his suitcase down on the floor at the foot of the bed and heading straight for the balcony.

The three of us follow suit, joining him in admiring the view.

“We should just live here,” Riot jokes, taking a deep breath of the fresh air. “The huge bed alone is reason enough.”

“I’m in,” Hudson agrees with a grin.

I can feel myself starting to sweat as I tug my bottom lip between my teeth. I’ve had this very thing on my mind since Riot announced he was staying last week, but I wasn’t sure how to bring it up. Maybe this is the perfect time for a casual segue?

“Or we could all live together in Pasadena,” I blurt. So much for casual.

“What?” Bishop asks, all three of them tearing their eyes off the beautiful scenery to stare at me.

“I’ve been thinking that if Riot is staying and needs to look for a new place, and I need a place, and your place sucks”—I wave at Bishop—“And obviously, Hudson belongs with us, and maybe the four of us should think about moving in together,” I rush through my explanation with my heart in my throat. Maybe it’s too soon for the four of us to think of something as serious as moving in together, but as soon as the idea came into my head last week, I haven’t been able to shake it.

No one says anything for the longest minute and a half of my life. Birds chirp in the surrounding trees, and wind rustles through the leaves, and my heart pounds so hard against my ribcage I think it might crack something.

Hudson is the first one to break the silence. “I’m in,” he agrees.

Bishop licks his lips and glances over at Hudson and then at me. “We’d need a lot of space for four of us if we don’t want to end up killing each other,” he hedges. “Like, probably a house.”

I nod. “Probably.”

A slow smile spreads over his face. “I’m in too.”

Riot tugs his lip ring between his teeth and then runs a hand through his hair. “I’ve never lived with anyone,” he warns. “I like to write in the middle of the night a lot.”

“I like to read late at night,” Hudson says with a grin.

“I was an only child, and I get testy if anyone else eats my snacks,” he adds.

“I’ll bake extras,” I offer.

He looks back over the lake, his expression pensive, and it feels like all three of us are holding our breath, waiting for his verdict. If Riot says no, it doesn’t mean the rest of us couldn’t get a place together, but it wouldn’t feel right without all of us. We may have individual relationships, but we also have something special when we’re all together.

“All right, let’s do this,” he agrees, and my breath wooshes out of my lungs with relief.

“I feel like this calls for a celebration,” Hudson declares. “How about some champagne?”

“How about a swim first?” Bishop counter offers, whipping his shirt over his head without waiting for a response. He saunters past us, dropping his shirt on the bedroom floor and then stripping out of his pants and underwear. My eyes zero in on his gorgeous, perky ass, my cock hardening at his unabashed nakedness. He looks over his shoulder, shooting us all a cheeky grin.

“A swim sounds good,”
