Forbidden Harmony (Harmony Falls #3) - Elizabeth Kelly Page 0,47

babbled and said some stupid stuff when we were having sex,” she said. “It was dumb and distracting and I won’t do it again. I’ll keep my mouth shut the whole time. Unless, you know, you want it open for something else.”

She dropped her gaze to his dick and he almost groaned out loud. God, she was trying to kill him. He was unbelievably tempted to give her what she asked. Although, as far as he was concerned, she didn’t need to be taught how to be sexy. Nor did she need to be coached on how to be more responsive in bed. That bastard of a fiancé had done a real number on his little sunshine.

Not your problem, Preacher. The girl is nothing but trouble and you know it. The two of you are oil and water.

His inner voice was right. As much as he wanted to fuck Addison, as much as he wanted her on her knees in front of him with her mouth wrapped around his dick, he couldn’t. She talked a good game about not wanting more but after a few weeks of fucking, she’d want more.

He reined in his libido and shook his head. “No.”

“Why not?”

“Because you’ll want more.”

“You don’t know that.”

“I do.”

“How?” she said.

“Because women like you always want more.”

He waited for her to pout and whine and do her little speech again. Instead, her shoulders slumped, and she stared at the floor for a moment before straightening her spine and staring up at him. “Okay. Thanks for hearing me out. Good-bye, Preacher.”

She slipped by him and walked out of the room without looking back.

Chapter Thirteen

“Hey, man. Why aren’t you at work?” Gideon stared at him in surprise.

Preacher petted Tank when the big dog squeezed past Gideon in the doorway and leaned against him. His tail wacked him in the thigh and Preacher winced before rubbing the Great Dane’s ears. “Took the afternoon off.”

“Seriously? You have a Saturday afternoon off in the middle of tourist season?” Gideon said.

Preacher just shrugged and after a second, Gideon said. “C’mon in. Gracie and I were just having beers in the back yard.”

“She’s not at work?”

“She has the weekend off,” Gideon said.

Preacher took a step back and said in a low voice. “Shit. Are you proposing to her today? Did I ruin the fucking moment?”

Gideon glanced behind him before shaking his head. “No, tomorrow. I was going to do it today but the tap in the upstairs bathroom started leaking and I had to fix that first, and then I have this whole cardboard note thing with Tank I want to do when I ask Gracie, and… anyway, tomorrow. I’m doing it tomorrow morning. Come in.”

He followed Gideon and Tank down the hall toward the door that led to the back yard. Grace was just stepping inside, and she smiled at him. “Hey, Preacher.”

“Hi, Grace.”

“Preacher has the afternoon off,” Gideon said.

“Cool. Head into the yard with Gideon, I’ll bring us all fresh beers.” Grace said.

She grinned at Gideon when he grabbed her ass as she walked by. Preacher followed Gideon into the yard and settled into a lawn chair, grunting when Tank immediately sat in this lap.

“Tank, go on,” Gideon said.

“It’s fine.” He petted the heavy dog and tried to shift in his chair. “As long as he stops trying to crush my fucking balls.”

Gideon laughed and pointed to a patch of sunlight. “Go lay in the sun, Tank.”

The big dog woofed before standing up and ambling to the sun. He stretched out on his side and closed his eyes. The snoring started almost immediately, and Preacher envied the dog’s ability to sleep. He hadn’t slept a fucking wink last night. Instead he’d tossed and turned, Addison’s request for lessons on fucking rattling around in his brain until he thought he’d go insane.

His shop didn’t open until eleven and he’d finally gotten up at six and gone for a workout at the gym. It hadn’t helped clear his mind the way working out usually did. He couldn’t concentrate on tattooing worth shit, and he’d finally done something he rarely did. He’d cancelled on his client for the afternoon, told Nolan to close the shop when Nix was finished his last tattoo, and then left.

Knowing Gideon had the weekend off, he’d come here to talk to him about Addison’s request, but, he grimaced and glanced at the kitchen window that was wide open, he couldn’t exactly talk to Gideon about it with Grace here.

He could hear the soft ring
