Fire and Rain - Tiana Laveen Page 0,60

stomach growling and mouth salivating, he then went for the biggest pot of all. Steam rose when he removed the lid. Grabbing a big, slotted silver spoon from a drawer, he stirred the collard greens seasoned with chunks of smoked meats and sliced red bell peppers.

“Oh yes, baby. So long I’ve waited for this moment. Come to Papa…”

Dipping the big spoon into the pot, he struggled to bring the greens, broth and meat to his anticipating mouth, but finally managed. Should’ve gotten a fork instead… He chewed, then swallowed and his heart galloped with delight, while his taste buds danced to a culinary tune he’d remember for an eternity. DAMN THESE ARE GOOD! SHIT! I knew she could cook! He scooped up another spoonful, this one bigger than the last. Son of a bitch this is good! Let me get a little more…

He went to get thirds, but suddenly heard her coming.

Oh, shit.

The distinct sound of flip-flops, or perhaps fancy slippers, beat a path in his direction. In a panic, he placed the lid back down as quietly as he could, but it clanked ever so slightly as it hit the rim of the pot. Perspiration broke out on his face as he placed the spoon carefully in the sink and scurried back to the living room, downing his last taste of the greens. He threw himself onto the couch like some pillow, hoping his face wouldn’t show proof of his misdeeds.

“Hey,” she said, looking straight ahead. He could feel the strain in his eyes as he shoved the last bits of the bounty to the side of his mouth as though he were chewing tobacco. A piece of smoked ham was wedged there, the smoked flavor flooding his mouth, refusing to let him live his best life. “Sorry it took so long.”

“Mmm, hmm.” He mumbled, turned away and quickly chewed, then swallowed, almost choking. “No problem, baby.” He switched off the television. Getting to his feet, he stretched, pretending he’d been there chilling, half bored the entire time. She stared into his eyes, studying him. No smile, no frown, while he kept his game face on. You can’t break me, woman. I’m the king of the game face. Then, just like that, she took his hand and led him to a dining room area.

“Have a seat,” she said with a grin as she reached for some candle sticks and a lighter.

“Let me help you set the table, honey.”

“No, you just sit down and relax, Aries.” He pulled out a chair at the end of the glossy table and took a seat. The woman lit the candles, which sat in gold and silver pedestal holders, a proud smile on her face.

“You look real pretty tonight, Lauren,” he complimented. “Smell nice, too.”

“Thank you.”

Her cheeks flushed to a darker hue. She wore a long pale pink dress that flowed like a breeze had caught the hem. On her feet were translucent flat shoes, the manicured toes exposed. Clear polish. Natural. She’s got nice feet. I’ll suck some toes if they’re pretty. She doesn’t know who she’s fucking with…

Her mahogany limbs moved so gracefully as she placed napkins down. Her thick black hair was pulled away from her face and clipped with a sparkly swan shaped hair pendant. She is so damn sexy that it should be a crime. I need to apprehend her ass, jail her tits, and put that pussy in a headlock for resisting arrest. I sentence you to a fucking you won’t soon forget. No parole.

“Thanks again for cooking dinner, Lauren. From the smell of everything, you’ve outdone yourself.”

“You’re welcome. I’ll be right back.” She winked at him and headed into the kitchen. He couldn’t wait to get down to business…

CHAPTER TWELVE

Eat Your Words

Her hands trembled as she maneuvered the big pot to the eye of the stove that was no longer on. Aries made her temperature rise – the way he’d looked at her as she’d lit the candles had been enough to send her over the damn edge. She could see him out the corner of her eye. Pure, animalistic lust.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. I’ve developed not only a crush on this man, but I know I want him to pounce on me like his ass is a kangaroo! Oh, Lord… She patted her forehead with the back of her hand. We’ve been spending too much time together. That’s the problem. I’m volunteering like I’m one of Charlie’s Angels on a mission
