Finn's Fantasy (Maine Men #1) - K.C. Wells Page 0,62

might have let slip that you’re into older guys.”

Finn locked his arms around Joel’s neck. “Oh really? Then I might have to have words with him.”

“Don’t. He was looking out for you. And if he hadn’t said that, I might never have found the courage to—”

Finn stopped his words with a kiss, and Joel went with it, holding Finn to him as they swayed to the music, their tongues coming into play. Joel lost himself in the moment, enjoying the feel of Finn’s lips on his, the solidness of Finn’s body, the smell of him…

Then a thought struck him, and he broke the kiss. He brought his lips to Finn’s ear. “I don’t have any condoms at home.”

Finn’s breath tickled his ear as he whispered. “And I don’t have any on me, but that’s not a problem.”

Joel’s heart hammered. “I… I can’t—”

Finn stopped his words with a hand to Joel’s lips. “In case you missed them? There’s a big plexiglass canister in the lobby, and a smaller one at the end of the bar. They’re covered in glossy notices about the Southern Maine AIDS Walk and 5K Run, and they’re both half full of condoms, free for the taking, courtesy of the Franny Peabody Center. So stop worrying and keep on dancing. We’ve got it covered.” He grinned. “Literally. So breathe, and let’s dance while we can. When we get back to your place, we can carry on with a little horizontal dancing.”

Joel leaned in close. “Thank you.”

Finn frowned. “For what?”

He exhaled. “Keeping your head. Helping me hold onto mine. Not rushing this.”

“You’ve waited this long. A few more hours won’t kill ya.” Finn gave a slow, sexy smile. “Hey, anticipation is important. Building up to something, enjoying the excitement…”

Joel gave a shaky laugh. “Oh, I’m excited, all right.” The realization that Finn wanted this as much as he did was intoxicating.

The fact that Finn wasn’t rushing into it made him feel lighter.

Joel came back into the house and locked the front door. “Okay. Bramble’s business is taken care of.” Finn was sitting in the armchair, his coat on the floor beside it, his boots kicked off, and the sight of him sent shivers through Joel. He came to a halt and stared at him, uncertain of his next move, his heart racing, the muscles in his stomach twitchy as fuck.

Finn rose and walked over to where Joel stood. He cupped Joel’s nape and looked him in the eye. “It’s okay.” His voice was so soft. Then he leaned in and kissed Joel, a lingering tender brush of lips that was nothing like their heated, bruising first kiss. Joel sighed into it, his hand on Finn’s neck, stroking him there as they deepened the kiss.

He broke it long enough to let one word fall from his lips. “Condoms?”

Finn smiled. “In my jeans pocket.”

A pleasurable shudder coursed through him, and he took Finn’s hand in his. “Then come with me.” Joel led him to the foot of the stairs, then let go of him to climb them, Finn following. Once up there, Joel went over to the nightstand to switch on the lamp, allowing warm light to spill into the space, reflecting off the white sloping ceiling.

Joel took a deep breath. “Jesus, my heart.”

Finn gently pushed him down until he was sitting on the edge of the bed. “Move back a little.” When Joel did as instructed, Finn straddled his lap and their lips met once more. Joel slid his hands around to cup Finn’s ass, and Finn sighed. “Wanna hear what my heart’s doing?” He cupped Joel’s head and pressed it to his chest, and Joel listened to the steady, comforting beat of Finn’s heart, pounding away like Joel’s.

He feels it too.

Joel grasped the hem of Finn’s T-Shirt and pulled it upward, with Finn raising his arms to help him remove it. He stared at Finn’s broad chest with its down of dark hair. “You look amazing.” He leaned in and laid a gentle kiss on Finn’s nipple, aware of the hitch in Finn’s breathing. The lure of Finn’s lips was too strong to ignore, however. Finn’s hands were on Joel’s head, holding him tenderly and reconnecting their lips as he settled into a slow rocking motion.

“Wanna see what you look like.” Finn grabbed Joel’s T-shirt and tugged it up and over Joel’s head. He gazed at Joel’s body, tracing a line from his navel up to his nipples, and Joel shivered. Finn’s smile eased his hammering heartbeat, just a
