Finding Hope (Seaside Wolf Pack #6) - C.C. Masters Page 0,6

lower back and I let out a contented sigh. As pack master, Austin was able to both draw energy from the pack and give it to his packmates. Through our mate bonds, I should be able to do the same, but it was still something I struggled with.

I opened my eyes to see Sam hovering worriedly above Trevor as she cleaned away the blood that covered him. I’d stopped the worst of his bleeding, but he had a long way to go before he was completely healed. James knelt by Mike to examine the wound in his stomach, and Cody ripped Davis’s shirt away from his injured shoulder to get a better look.

“I’m feeling better,” I announced. “I can take a look at the others.”

“Mike next,” Sam urged me.

James shot her a dark look, but I ignored him. I nodded in agreement and hurried over to where Mike was slumped over, barely conscious and still bleeding. I knelt by his side and pressed my hands against him. Mike’s injury was less complicated than Trevor’s, but still a challenge for me to heal. I started with the damaged blood vessels first, then repaired the damage to his organs. Then I drew out all of the contaminants and sealed his flesh back together. When I opened my eyes, he had an area of puckered pink flesh on his stomach where the gaping wound had been.

“Your body should continue to heal,” I told Mike as he struggled to sit up. “But you need to rest and get plenty of fluids to replace what you lost.” I gently pushed Mike back down. “Don’t make me tell Sam to sit on you.”

Mike chuckled and then winced. “Thanks, Anna,” he rasped out.

“Mine isn’t that bad,” Davis told me when I looked in his direction. “It didn’t hit anything major, and it’s already starting to heal.”

I looked at Cody for confirmation, and he nodded. “He’ll be fine in a couple of days.”

“I’ll leave you alone for now,” I told Davis. “But once I’m fully rested, I’ll be back for you.”

Davis gave me a faint smile. “Save your magic for Trevor, the big guy needs it more than I do.”

I nodded, and Austin helped me stand. “I have a couple IV bags in my medical supplies,” I told Cody. “I’ll keep working on Trevor, but giving him IV fluids will help him combat the effects of blood loss.”

“I’m on it,” Cody said with a sharp nod. He left the room, and I walked over to where Trevor lay unconscious on the couch.

Austin moved an ottoman beside the couch so I could sit beside my patient, and I smiled at him in thanks. Sam had one of Trevor’s hands in hers and was squeezing tightly, her eyes damp with unshed tears.

“He’ll be okay,” I told Sam softly. “I’m not going to let him die.”

Sam nodded and watched hopefully as I laid my hands on Trevor and got comfortable. This was going to take a while. I took a deep breath before closing my eyes and putting everything I had into healing Trevor. Austin laid one hand on my shoulder, lending me strength for the task at hand. This was going to be the most challenging healing I’d ever attempted, but I had to believe I could do this. I couldn’t let any of my packmates down.

Chapter 2

Anna

It was hours later when I finally took my hands off Trevor and slumped down in my seat. Austin rubbed my back, and I leaned into his touch. He had stayed by my side through the entire process, bolstering my magic whenever my power started fading. Healing Trevor had required me to delve deep within him to repair damage to his heart and lungs. The healing magic that I’d used on my patients before seemed like child’s play compared to the intricate magical surgery that I’d just performed.

Sam ran her hand over Trevor’s fresh new skin, her eyes wide. “Anna, I can’t thank you enough for what you just did.”

Trevor opened his eyes a tiny slit and grunted in agreement. I’d felt him wake up toward the end of the procedure, but I hadn’t wanted to pull myself out of my stream of consciousness within his body. Sam had administered some pain killers that kept him still while I worked.

I patted Trevor on the arm. “You’re going to need a lot of sleep and food over the next couple of days. I don’t want to see you out of bed.”

“Not a problem,” Sam
