Fight Like You've Never Lost (Summer Lake #14) - S.J. McCoy Page 0,19
to me. You’re going to come with me.”
There was panic in her eyes as she started to moan and tighten around him. All the tension that had been building inside him was about to find its release inside her. Neither of them could stop it now. “I promise I won’t hurt you, baby.” It was the last conscious thought he had as he thrust deeper and harder and he truly meant it as he pushed them both over the edge and lost himself in a rush of pleasure that crashed through him and into her.
“Oh, God! Ryan! Yes!” She clung to him and gasped with him as he gave her everything he had and she took it, deep and hard, until they both slumped together, spent and gasping for breath.
She turned her head to the side, and he was stunned to see a tear roll down her cheek.
“Hey.”
She wouldn’t look at him.
“Was I so bad it made you cry?”
She let out a half-laugh half-sob sound that made his heart clench in his chest. He’d told her he wouldn’t hurt her. He didn’t want to, but it felt like he already had.
He took hold of her chin and made her look at him. “Tell me?”
She gave him a weak smile, and, in that moment, he knew that he could fall for her. And damn, wasn’t that a dangerous thought? He wanted to wrap her up in his arms and hold her close, reassure her and make it all better, even though he didn’t know what it was.
She saved him from himself when she laughed. It was forced and he knew it, but if that was the way she wanted to play it …
“You know it wasn’t bad. I’m crying because I have to admit that you were right; you have very good reason to be full of yourself.”
He held her gaze, wanting her to know that she didn’t have to laugh it off, that he’d go with her if she wanted to go somewhere deeper. But she didn’t. So be it. If she wanted off the hook, he’d let her.
He couldn’t resist landing a kiss on her pink, kiss swollen lips. “I hate to say I told you so.” He winked. “But I told you so.”
She rolled her eyes.
“If it’s any consolation, you did what you like to do.”
She frowned. “What do you mean?”
He brushed his lips over hers. He needed to stop that shit! It was a good thing she was more sensible than he was. “You said you like to be the best.”
The way she smiled made his heart clench in his chest. He didn’t know her reasons, but he did know his reasons, and this—whatever they were doing here—couldn’t go anywhere. But that smile told him that she wished it could—maybe even as much as he did.
Chapter Six
Leanne ran her fingers through her hair and eyed herself in the mirror. She was dressed again and cleaned up as best she could be here in the powder room in the hallway. She wanted a shower. She’d considered asking if she could take one, but she knew what it would mean. If she went in the shower, Ryan would come with her. She pursed her lips. And he’d make her come with him again.
Her whole body quivered as she remembered. She’d been getting too caught up in him, too carried away. She’d made herself stop. It was possible to enjoy sex without climaxing. She often did. She only came when she chose to and that was usually when she was on top and in charge. She came when she was using a man’s cock to get herself off. That was what it amounted to. And that wasn’t what had been happening on the sofa with Ryan. He’d been taking her there and she’d panicked. It was safer not to. So, she’d shut herself down. And damn him if he hadn’t known. She didn’t know how; she was a good faker. She knew that. But she hadn’t fooled him.
Her hand shook as she applied fresh lipstick. She squeezed her thighs together as she remembered the feel of his thumb on her. He’d made her come against her will. She let out a laugh. That wasn’t true. Against her better judgment, maybe. However she put it, he’d gotten inside her, in every sense. He’d opened her up to let him in—and not just her legs.
She straightened up and pushed her hair back over her shoulders. And now she had to go. The
