Fated for Her Wolves - Tara West Page 0,78

Rone would fatten him up in no time.

Hakon asked Agent Johnson to stay for supper, but the agent said he’d already been invited over to the senior Thunderfoots’ house. She was secretly relieved. Though she liked the human agent, she desperately needed alone time with her family, especially Luc.

When Luc walked toward her and the boys, her heart fluttered, and she felt giddy inside, like the first time they’d met. He took the porch steps two at a time and pulled Hrod and Alexi into a fierce hug. Setting them down, he patted their heads before taking Amara in his arms, Evin snuggled between them. He kissed her long and hard, as if they were in a drought, and she was a cool glass of water. She was breathless when he pulled back, taking Evin from her.

He stroked her jaw with the pad of his thumb. “I’m sorry. My phone died, and I didn’t have a way to call.”

She clutched his wrist, kissing his palm. “I’m just glad you’re okay.”

His eyes lit up, swirling with golden specks. “I am now that I’m home with you.”

Wrapping an arm around her, he walked with her into the kitchen. “Something smells good.”

“Hungry?” Rone asked as he pushed ahead of them and stirred a pot of what smelled like moose chili.

“Famished.” He patted the dogs and sat on a barstool, still holding Amara’s hand.

She sat beside him, smiling at Evin when Luc sat the baby on the counter. He was such a good boy, sitting quietly and observing everything around him. He took a cracker from Rone, thanking him with a smile. Then he and his papa shared a look of understanding while his legs dangled over the counter. She watched their exchange with a mixture of awe and appreciation, her heart warming when Evin held out his arms to Luc again. He sat Evin in his lap and kept him there throughout his party.

After they’d finished eating, and Evin had fallen asleep in his arms, Luc handed the baby to Rone and then took Amara’s hand in his.

Cupping his face in her hand, she kissed him long and hard, loving the feel of his hard, wiry muscles when he pulled her into his arms. He led her upstairs to her private bedroom, the one she rarely used except for one-on-one time with her mates. Her heart did little backflips, and she giggled like a schoolgirl. Luc was home and her family was whole once more.

SHE WAITED NERVOUSLY while Luc showered. She’d taken one first, insisting on being alone. Not that they could both fit in her small tub shower anyway. He exited the bathroom, his bare chest glistening with moisture, water drops cascading down his rock-hard abs and pooling around his flat navel, and she started to feel uncomfortable. He was an Adonis, and she was a cow. She touched her stomach and felt a calming presence within. Her babe was asleep in her womb. That still didn’t lessen her anxiety. Pink stretchmarks dissected her belly. They’d been faint with the other babies, and big purple ones with Bjorn. She shouldn’t have been embarrassed, but she couldn’t help herself. Her healing magic didn’t diminish the scars, either. Those scars were a natural part of her, and she feared they’d never go away.

She clung to the opening of her robe, trying and failing to cinch it tight. “I have to warn you my stomach has really grown.”

“I can see that.” Letting his towel fall to the floor, he sat down beside her, his large erection jutting toward his face like a torpedo ready to fire. “You’re beautiful.” He placed a hand on her belly, then leaned down and tenderly kissed it.

Her heart seized. Despite his hard life in the Army, Luc was always so sweet to her.

She ran her hands through his damp, cropped hair while he continued to trail kisses across her belly. “You sure?”

“More than sure.” He smiled and rubbed her belly like he was shining a bowling ball. “What can be more beautiful than the sight of our mate carrying our little girl?”

Her chest swelled with love. She didn’t think she could love him anymore, which made watching him go off to serve his country even harder. Even though their enemies had yet to discover the elite Army trackers were wolves, one day they would, and then what? She pushed the dark thoughts out of her mind. Luc was home safe, and that’s all that mattered.

“She’s big, but not as big
