and supplies. He wasn’t going to have Brett stay at the clubhouse, when she could be here with him, and he wanted her to feel at home. If he could sell his living habits, it would go a long way in convincing her to share living space on a permanent basis, wherever it was they ended up.

When he was satisfied that it would meet her standards, Ethan set his bag by the door and headed back to the clubhouse. He could find something to keep himself occupied until Brett was up and about again, and honestly, he needed the distraction. Even if it meant toiling in the workshop for a couple of hours. He actually missed the physical labor right now, his muscles itching to work and stretch.

He could think of more pleasant ways to work his muscles, but he seriously doubted Brett was up to it at the moment. It seemed his cock was as eager as his heart to move quickly. He grunted and shifted on his seat, anxious to get to the garage and get busy.

The distraction was welcome, and he was interested to find Dennis there, making some adjustments to his own bike and talking amicably with Rafe. It was a good start to a solid relationship between what would be the new patches and chapter and the originals. With the endorsement of the president’s sister and his best friend, who also happened to be the vice president, the rest of the Silver Suns should mostly be agreeable to the patch over. Anyone else would be given the option of leaving the club or, for those involved in the underhanded attempt to sell out, would face consequences.

“Hey, you.” Brett’s voice caught his attention and had him straightening from where he’d been checking tire pressure on a paying customer’s bike. She looked better, livelier, with her pallor returning and the bruises on her face not as noticeable. “How’s it going?”

“Fine,” he told her, wiping his hands on the rag he kept over his shoulder. “Just passing some time. How did you sleep?”

“Not bad,” she replied. “Anything from Tony?”

Having silenced his phone, Ethan wasn’t sure. He pulled it out, checking his messages, and found nothing. “Not yet. Are you up for a short ride? Or should I get a car?”

She smiled. “I didn’t know I was going anywhere.”

He grinned back. “I was hoping you’d be more comfortable staying with me. At least, until you go back home.”

She suddenly looked disturbed. Quietly, she asked, “What are we going to do then? I mean, about us?” She was echoing his earlier thoughts, and he was perversely pleased she worried over it, too.

“We’ll figure it out,” he told her, wanting her to come to the same conclusion he had. “For now, let’s just worry about today.”

She nodded. “I think I can ride. My ribs are sore, but Leigh didn’t think anything was broken. It might be nice to get a little wind in my hair.”

“Great. I’ll grab your bag, and we’ll head out in just a minute.” He was anxious to get her to his place now. If she could handle being on the back of a bike, chances were she’d be just as excited to crawl under the covers with him for something even more satisfying. Seriously motivated now, he hurried through the rest of the maintenance check, his anticipation growing with every moment.

Brett stared around at the rest of the Silver Suns, swallowing her nerves and anger. She’d explained all the pertinent parts of the story, including Martin’s death, the club’s lack of financial security, and the intention to patch in as the first additional chapter of the Devil’s Flames. She had not mentioned who was behind everything, since that would be revealed momentarily, and she needed to know where everyone stood before revealing that information.

“This doesn’t have to be unanimous,” she added, seeing some less than pleasant expressions. “Just a majority. And if you don’t want to patch, you can leave. No one is going to force you to join up. But overall, with all the debt and bad blood that’s been caused, and the fact that Martin would never have chosen to go down a dark path without the absolute necessity, I believe this is our best option. You’d have legitimate business with solid income and the backing of a club with an incredible reputation.”

“You really think this would be good for us?” The sentiment echoed through the room, and Brett sighed.

Rocky, the sergeant at arms, stepped
