and her walls convulsed around his cock, he couldn’t stand it. He shoved so far into her she cried out, and he found the end of her. It was sweet, satisfying, and torturous all at the same time. The hair on the back of his neck stood on end as Brett’s eyes rolled back in her head, and he gasped for breath, trying to last just a little longer. He drew her orgasm out until she toppled right into another one, and his senses overrode his conscious thought.

He erupted, his whole body seizing with the intensity of the sensation, and he shuddered as he held himself still, riding it out until his elbows gave out. Brett still held on, her body heaving and shivering, and he couldn’t roll away, so he collapsed on top of her, unable to help it. She pulled him against her, and he buried his face in her hair, satisfied and unable to think about anything else other than her and the way she felt soft and supple beneath him.

When he’d caught his breath and felt that she’d finally settled beneath him, he smiled and said, “Your couch is quite comfortable.”

She laughed, her body vibrating against him in a way that was all too enticing. “Yes, and I feel incredibly safe with you sleeping there.”

Rolling to his side, he propped on his elbow and gazed down at her. “I’m hoping you don’t really want to relegate me to the couch, though. I mean, after all the trouble we went through to put on our little show, I wouldn’t expect it, but I thought it would be the gentlemanly thing to ask.”

She reached up and brushed the tips of her fingers over his cheek. Ethan turned his head and pressed his lips to them. “Always chivalrous. No, I want you here, with me.” She took a deep breath, looking as if something was bothering her. “You don’t think we’re moving too fast, do you?”

Frowning, Ethan told her, “I don’t. But I’m not exactly the authority on serious relationships. If you feel like we’re not taking it slow enough—”

She cut him off, shaking her head. “No, I don’t. I’m just not used to having such strong feelings, and they came on awfully fast. I just don’t want you to think I’m pushing too hard, or like I’m clingy or needy. Or like you and me are in any way connected to what’s going on with the club. I’m not using you.”

“I’ve never thought that,” he told her. “If anything, I worried—” This time, he was interrupted by her phone ringing. It was odd, considering no one had called her late at night since he’d been around. She looked concerned as well as she lunged laboriously toward her clothes lying on the floor to grab her phone.

While Ethan was irritated by the interruption and the poor timing, he waited anxiously to find out what was going on as she scowled at the called ID. “Kent? What’s up?” She was silent, and Ethan heard Kent’s voice, talking fast but in a low tone so he couldn’t make out the words. But the tension was high.

Brett gasped and sat up straight, her mouth gaping and her eyes huge. Ethan didn’t know what had happened, but he was on his feet and dressing instantly, knowing it had to be bad. “Is there anything left?” she asked, her voice quavering with emotion.

Anything left of what? Ethan was on high alert, and before he even pulled on a shirt, he was tucking a pistol into the back of his jeans. Tugging the rest of his clothes on, another handgun went in his right boot, a knife in his left, and he shoved a smaller blade into his pocket. He gave her a questioning look, but she was already up and dressing, paying him no attention.

“I’m on my way. I’ll be there in ten minutes. Don’t let anyone leave.” Her tone was crisp, filled with anxiety, and as she tossed the phone on the bed and yanked a shirt over her head, she turned to Ethan. He was shocked to see tears in her eyes. “The clubhouse is gone.”

He stared at her, not quite processing what she’d just said. “What?”

Her shoulders slumped, and she stood there, looking helpless for just a moment before she started moving again and explaining. “Kent said that he left about an hour and a half ago, and the place was empty. He left a pack of cigarettes there and went
