The Enemy - Kelsey Clayton Page 0,42
giving me a second more of his attention. A part of me wants to call his name, but I know it wouldn't do any good. Besides, the other part of me wants nothing more than to kick him in his junk, but that wouldn't make matters any better either. Instead, I turn up the speed on the treadmill and run until I can't run any more.
AN HOUR LATER, AND I'm no less conflicted than I was when I went down there. Let's face it, as long as Cade is mad at me, I don't stand a chance at feeling any kind of peace—which essentially means the rest of my summer is going to suck. He won't even talk to me, and I have to be alone with him for an entire month.
As I'm walking by his room, I can hear the shower running from his en suite bathroom. It may be ballsy and a little insane, but what else do I have to lose? I twist the knob and cheer internally when I realize it's unlocked.
The whole room smells like him. His cologne fills the air and has me wanting to drown myself in it. I've been in this room before, but it's never looked like this. There's a hole in the one wall where he must have put his fist through it, probably after I ruined everything. Dirty clothes are piled on the chair in the corner, and water bottles fill his nightstand.
Not giving myself time to second guess it, I march into the bathroom and slam the door behind me.
“All right, we need to talk,” I demand.
“Lennon?” he asks, confused. “What the fuck are you doing in here?”
“Well, you don't give me a chance to say anything before you walk away. At least in here, you can't walk away.”
He groans. “Get out of my room.”
“Not until you listen to me.” My tone is firm, making it clear I have no intentions of backing down. Not this time. “I'm sorry I betrayed you. It's a shitty feeling, and I didn't mean to hurt you.”
“Fuck off.”
I ignore him and keep going. “I wanted to help you. I swear I did. It's just, my dad looked so upset. It's been a while since I've seen him as happy as he is with Nora, and I can't be the one who takes that away from him.”
Cade's hand hits the wall. “And my happiness doesn't matter?”
“Of course it does, but he's my dad.”
“Cade?” Nora's voice comes from the other side of the bathroom door, and I immediately panic.
“In here, Mom!” he calls out.
My eyes widen as I hear her coming toward the bathroom. “What the fuck are you doing?” I whisper-shout.
In a split-second decision, I move the curtain and jump into the shower with Cade. A shocked expression covers his face as the door opens and his mom comes into the bathroom.
“Is everything okay?” Nora questions. “I thought I heard something fall in here.”
He smirks at me, and it takes everything in me not to stare at the way the water flows down his body. It's bad enough my clothes are getting soaked just from being in here.
“I'm fine.” He looks me up and down. “Just a bug I had to squish.”
She shrieks. “Gross. I'll have to let Ken know so he can have the exterminator come.”
“Good idea. There are a few pests that need to be gotten rid of.”
Without thinking, I go to retort, but he rushes toward me and covers my mouth with his hand. Good move on his part, because I can only imagine what our parents will do if she finds me in this shower right now. Fully clothed or not, it doesn't look good.
“I'm going to take some of these clothes to Melani,” his mom says, but I'm too focused on the way his wet body is pressed against mine.
“All right. Thanks.”
It feels like an eternity before she leaves and closes the bathroom door behind her. Finally, Cade releases me and steps back. As if I can no longer resist, my eyes rake down his body until they land on his cock, and to my surprise, it's hard. I may not have seen many dicks, but holy fuck he's huge.
“Ahem.” He clears his throat, and I immediately know I'm busted. “Either get on your knees and suck it or get out so I can take care of this.”
My breath hitches at his words. We aren't even going to talk about how a part of me considers going with
