better have a big bed.”

“I’m sure it will.” She chuckled. “I bet you two aggravated the shit out of your mother.”

“She always pointed to her gray hair and claimed we had caused it.”

Just as we were about to begin opening doors and searching for our suite, the yacht’s butler, Jonathan appeared and greeted us. He went into the typical spiel and guided us to our master suite.

My shoulders relaxed for the first time that evening.

So far, nothing had happened to us from Moscow to Venice. I’d contacted the Sicilians to let them know that we were on the way. I believed Cosa Nostra had nothing to do with the dead animals. Therefore, I chose the city of Palermo in the region of Sicily as our first stop. There, Emily and I would talk to their top boss and gain support for the possible madness I would bring to Calabria.

I also notified Cosa Nostra out of respect. I didn’t want them to get their panties in a bunch like Jean-Pierre did, when I traveled to Paris. This time, there would be no more mix-ups like in France. As far as they knew, my fiancé and I was simply enjoying a vacation around their country.

A vacation with a little death. One that can’t take too long. We’ll have a wedding to plan soon. Still, we all needed a vacation for now. The trip will be good for us.

It could have taken us less than a day to get to Sicily, but I requested that the captain take five days to get there. Every last one of us needed a small vacation. Additionally, Emily and the baby needed smooth sailing and rest within my arms.

For now, out on the water, we would be safe. But I understood that it would all be a false sense of security. Eventually, we would need to return back to the real world.

The butler showed us our suite. It had an office as well as a living room with a grand piano. Still, I wondered what Valentina’s suite had.

Emily hit my back. “Stop pouting.”

“I bet she has a massive jacuzzi tub.”

“We have a big one.”

“Hers might be bigger.”

“I hope I don’t end up throwing you both off this boat.”

“You wouldn’t.”

A knock sounded. Next, David ducked his head inside. “Kazimir, when would be a good time to talk to you?”

“Now.” I nodded at the butler and Emily. “Go ahead and get comfortable, mysh. I’ll be back.”

Emily looked worried, but she gave me a smile and returned to Jonathan.

I went out into the hallway with him. The door closed behind us.

“I just—”

I held my hand up. “Let’s discuss this outside and under the stars.”

“O-kay, sir.”

“Do you know, if it is a full moon? Has enough time gone by?”

“I don’t think so, we just had that eclipse a while ago.”

“Yes. How could I forget?”

David and I walked forward, left the hallway, and went to the outer deck. There, we stood next to the railing as the yacht slowly moved away from port.

It was a breath-taking view. Venice glittered. Stars sparkled in the night sky. The dark ocean breathed, the surface rising and falling with pulsing ease. Waves rippled back and forth as though echoing the water’s soul.

I glanced up and spotted the crescent moon.

Hello, old friend.

The door opened behind us.

The butler, Jonathan half-bowed. “Have a good evening.”

“We will.”

Jonathan continued on, probably checking on the other guests.

Before getting on the plane, I had gone with Valentina to get a ring. There were other surprises for my most trusted too. Upon securing the yacht, I made sure Johnathan took charge of gifts for my men, hoping it would be a nice thank you for all their time served.

Breathing in the salty sea air, I turned to David. “What updates do you have?”

He placed his hands in his pockets. “Before getting on the yacht, I called in some extra men from Paris. They will be flying out to both places—Palermo and Calabria. They are to stay hidden and just keep their eyes open. We should have a good idea where Pavel is at.”

“Good. I want his location and who is hiding him.”

“Yeah. About that, Kazimir.” Worry covered David’s face. “With the places that we’re going. . .there could only be two possibilities in this situation—the Sicilians or Black Axe and ‘Ndrangheta.”

Very smart.

I gave him a wicked smile. “Are you scared, King David?”

“My blood pressure is higher than normal, but I’m game.” He didn’t look relaxed. “I believe we need more men, but that’s your
