The Devil's Ditty (The Spellsinger #14) - Amy Sumida Page 0,1

later than usual, okay?”

Verin grunted in assent.

“Good. I'll see you soon. I love you, Dragon.”

“I love you too, Spellsinger,” his voice softened.

I pulled out the charm, letting it fall into my cleavage as I headed for the dressing room. If I didn't get out of that gown and over to Verin in fifteen minutes, as promised, he'd come looking for me. And if Verin had to come looking for me, he would not be happy. And then I'd have to spend a lot of time making him happy. I paused and grinned at myself in the mirror.

I have a feeling she's going to be late, RS said to Kyanite in my mind.

The Rooster Spell, RS for short, is the spell that binds my men and me together in magic and love while Kyanite is the consciousness of the jewel I'm aligned with. Having Ky makes me Queen of a shining one—AKA fairy—kingdom and having RS makes me need to take multiple lovers. Although both of them seem to reside in my head, they can also be a huge pain in my ass.

If only I could still block you out, I shot at them in my mind as I closed the dressing room door.

I'd recently possessed the ability to block them out but, as far as I knew, that had disappeared when my fellow spellsingers broke a love spell that had been cast upon Verin and me, a spell that had been enhanced by a witch named Eleanor. I'm pretty sure that it was her spell that gave me the power to block out Ky and RS. It's okay, Eleanor's no longer a threat; Verin bit her head off. And I mean that literally. But as far as the blocking ability, honestly, I hadn't tried it since Verin and I were released. There had been no reason to. I assumed it was gone and left it at that.

You love us, RS drawled. And you love that big, grexy dragon.

If you speak to me while I'm getting intimate with Verin, like you did last week, I swear that I will not stop until I find a way to block you again, I vowed.

Sheesh, calm down, Bridezilla, RS huffed. I was just making a suggestion.

Do not ever give me suggestions on how to make love to my boyfriend.

Um, he's your consort, RS shot back. Dragon Kings aren't boyfriends. Or maybe you're his consort. Or you're both consorts. Whatever way you swing it, Verin's not something as mundane as a boyfriend.

Will you shut up already? Kyanite snapped. You're giving me a headache, and I don't even have a head.

You're just jealous that she can't practice my suggestion on you.

RS, stop it, I snarled.

And you're just jealous that you can't practice your suggestion on Verin, Kyanite retorted.

Yeah, I am, RS freely admitted.

Well, that backfired, I said in sympathy to Ky.

Indeed, he grumbled.

I'm telling you, if you just stick your pinky up his—

RS! I screeched in my head as I stepped out of my dress.

Well, you're not with him now, she grumbled. I thought this might be a better time to discuss it.

I'm not doing that, I said firmly.

You can always use your tongue instead.

I am not sticking my tongue there!

Why not? He's a clean guy. I'm sure he scrubs everywhere before you show up. Maybe he even uses his pinky to do it. You know men have nerves up there that—

This conversation is over.

But what about my thoughts on ball-licking? That dragon has got a set of stones on him that make my non-existent mouth water.

RS!

Chapter Two

Verin hadn't come looking for me, even though I was five minutes later than I said I'd be. Instead, he had set to prowling the confines of his bedroom until I showed up. I used my shining one traveling stone, which made the journey near-instantaneous, but I had to make a pit stop. Traveling stones are made specifically to pierce the Veil—the magical field of energy between realms—and wouldn't work unless your destination was in another realm. This meant that I couldn't use it to go straight from the bridal shop in Hawaii to Verin's undersea palace in the Pacific Ocean. I had to first go home to my castle in the Kyanite Kingdom, in the realm of Tír na nÓg, before jumping back to Earth.

In Kyanite, I had briefly seen my husband, Darcraxis, the God of Water and Darkness. He was also the King of Kyanite, so seeing him there wasn't a surprise. He'd tried to talk to
