Demon Loved Demon Loved (Darkest Flames #2) - Katie May Page 0,6

I make a face before tossing the candy-slash-pill over my shoulder. I suppose that’s what I get for buying it from a man in the back of a van. It didn’t even have any bumper stickers—an immediate red flag. That was why I bought over thirty various slogans to paste on the back of my minivan. Family 4 ever. Stay strong. I’m the daddy.

You know, the usual.

Never trust a van without a bumper sticker.

Before Katrina can walk away from me, I link my arm with hers and begin to lead her away from campus and towards my minivan.

“Akor!” she hisses, but she doesn’t try to get away. “It’s the middle of the school day—”

“And school will be there tomorrow,” I point out.

She makes a face. “It’s the weekend tomorrow.”

I wave my hand dismissively. “What I’m saying is, school will be there forever. But this adventure I’m taking you on? That’s only now.”

I can see a protest bubbling up inside of her, waiting to be set loose like a can of soda that you shake repeatedly and then open. But I merely accelerate my pace until I’m practically sprinting, dragging her along beside me. Her footsteps falter slightly, but she doesn’t protest as I pull her to a stop in front of my minivan and open the passenger door for her. Chivalry at its finest. Of course, I can’t resist spanking her luscious ass as she crawls inside.

“Akor…we can’t…”

“None of that, my sweet cherry,” I purr as she makes a weird noise, crossing her arms over her chest and sticking her lower lip out adorably. “Today, you’re mine.”

“But—”

“Don’t argue with a crazy fucker, Kitty Kat,” I say lightly. “You just make us more insane. For you. And your sweet tits…”

She groans, dropping her head into her hands as I fumble through my pocket for my favorite coin and move to sit in the driver’s seat.

“How’s our baby doing, by the way?” I ask as I run the edge of my thumb over the slightly raised edge of the coin.

“You mean the cat you got me?” She quirks an eyebrow, but my mind can’t help but conjure up images of Katrina plump with child. My child. I picture her breasts straining against the uniform she’s forced to wear, her nipples beaded nubs. Her stomach rounded. Her ass so incredibly divine that I want to lick each cheek…

“Earth to Akor!” Katrina raps her knuckles against my forehead, and I flash her a sheepish smile. “Kator is doing good,” she declares firmly. “Though I’m not sure how much longer I can keep her at the hotel before the manager comes—”

“I can just kill him,” I suggest as I continue to turn the coin through my fingers, watching it glint in the blistering sunlight.

Katrina gapes at me in horror, and I remember how touchy humans can be about a little murder.

“Just kidding!” I say with a boisterous laugh.

Totally not kidding.

But if there’s one thing I learned from the soap operas Van forces me to watch, it’s to always say “just kidding” and “you’re right” when you get into a fight with a woman. Especially your woman.

“I shouldn’t be doing this,” she grumbles, glaring stubbornly out the window. I attempt to laugh lightly—read as, not crazily—as I lean forward to buckle her in. Safety first and all that. A delicate flush explodes on her cheeks and neck when my hand “accidentally” grazes her thigh. And then my tongue “accidentally” licks up her neck.

“Maybe you should be doing this,” I counter, pulling back enough to see heat flare to life in her eyes. “Maybe that’s why you’re not running away.”

“Or maybe I just know you’ll chase me,” she snipes immediately. Stubbornly. And dammit if my dick doesn’t swell at her haughty tone.

“You’re damn right I will,” I say, pulling back so I can focus once more on the coin in my hand. “Always and forever, my sweet cherry.” I turn towards her abruptly with a wicked grin curving up my lips. In Hell, demons would quite literally run away screaming when they saw such a smile on my face. But not my Katrina. Not my sweet cherry. She simply narrows her eyes suspiciously, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Or, in this case, the other coin.

“Let’s make it a bet, shall we?” I nod towards the coin resting in the palm of my hand. “Heads, we do what I want to do. Tails, I’ll leave you to…” I make a face. “School.”

“Okay, fine. I’ll accept that.” She
