Declan - Heart of a Tiger (Royal Taiga Streak #1) - J.R. Loveless Page 0,94
pulse a final spurt before Declan loosened his hold on Sean’s hair. A growl tore from him when Sean pulled free and licked at his lips to gather what he’d missed. Desire sparkled at him from Sean’s sapphire eyes and Declan reached down to yank Sean into his lap to kiss him. The bitter taste of his own release stung his tastebuds, but he only deepened the kiss further.
“That was so fucking amazing, baby,” Declan snarled against Sean’s mouth.
Delight trickled through their bond and Declan chuckled huskily, pulling back a fraction. “You’re very satisfied with yourself, aren’t you?”
Sean smiled, an obvious ‘cat-got-the-canary’ look on his face. “Can we do that again?”
The small chuckle turned into a booming laugh and Declan hugged Sean tighter. “Baby, anytime you want to do that, you are more than welcome.”
After they’d straightened their clothing, Declan ignored the responsibility of dealing with any further fallout relating to the other clans and just cuddled with his mate. He only released Sean when it was time for dinner which was the usual boisterous affair with Rose, Ronnie, the girls, and a couple of pack members who’d helped prepare dinner.
Declan wanted to shield Sean from ever reliving the horrible things he’d experienced at the hands of the monster Carl McNeely, but he knew Sean needed to talk with a therapist. Seeing the way Sean broke down in the face of violence solidified just how deep the trauma ran in his young mate. When Dr. Binson arrived after dinner, Declan couldn’t help except notice the way Sean tensed during their introduction.
“Sean, this is Amanda Binson. She’s the wife of Theo Binson and a certified psychologist. She’s going to talk with you and the others. Help you understand and deal with what happened.”
“Okay,” Sean whispered, eyeing Amanda with distrust.
“Why don’t you use my office?” Declan suggested to Amanda.
Amanda smiled and nodded. “That would be wonderful, Alpha Declan.”
She looked at Sean. “I promise I’m not here to hurt you, Sean. I just want to get acquainted with you. Will you show me to Declan’s office?”
Declan knew he wouldn’t be able to relax while Sean was with her, but he watched Sean lead her down the hallway. He hated feeling helpless to do something, anything, for Sean. Yet he knew in his heart he didn’t have the ability to help him fight the ghosts none of them could see except Sean.
Rose came to his side. “He’ll be all right, Dec. I know it. He’s already come out of his shell so much in the short time he’s been here.”
“It’s just that me and my tiger hate how there is nothing for us to rip to pieces to protect him.”
“I know, big brother, but sometimes we can’t always fight the battles for our loved ones, no matter how much we want to.”
Declan sighed. “How are the girls doing?”
“They’re well. Vicky still hasn’t spoken a word.”
“They given any information on how to find their clans?”
“Sam and Tara are truly afraid their families will make them leave Sean. They don’t want to tell me anything to help.”
“I’ll have Victor look through the records of missing children around the time we think they were taken. Maybe there will be something in there.”
She hummed and then tugged him into the dining room and urged him to sit down. “Let me get you some coffee and we can chat.”
Declan nodded, still lost in thought about the volume of things to still deal with. Then he thought back to what Casey had said. God only knew what malevolent being was coming. “Alpha?” Victor interrupted his musings.
“Yes, Victor?”
Victor came into the room and sat in the chair next to his. “The patrols confirmed all clans have left our lands. They’ve also reported Maximus is gone as well.”
“Good. I need you to look into any missing children from eight or so years ago, Victor. Two girls, look for pictures of them. Also for any girls taken in the last three years, any which would be Vicky’s age by now. I know they wish to remain with Sean, but their families deserve to know what happened to them.”
“Whatever you need, Alpha.” Victor went to stand, but Declan stopped him.
“Also, use your contacts, find out if anyone has caught wind of any threats against shifters or any potential dangers we may face.”
Victor nodded. “I’ll report as soon as I have information.”
He left the dining room and Rose returned. She carried two mugs, one of which she set in front of Declan. Rose chatted about
