should have everything done by the end of the week.” His statement had me looking toward the clock. Where had the afternoon gone?

“Okay, that’s perfect. Thanks.” I must have been too agreeable or just paying too much attention because he straightened and looked at me like I’d done something curious. “What?”

He grinned. “Tristan’s coming back tonight, isn’t he?”

Groaning, I tried to ignore the question, but he just kept poking at it. “Is he staying the night or just coming to play for a while? I bet he’s sexy when he’s driving you crazy.”

I snorted, trying to change the subject so he didn’t figure out that Tristan and I hadn’t exactly had sex yet. “Do your Masters know you talk like that?”

“If they don’t, they haven’t been paying enough attention.” Jonah stood, putting his laptop in his bag. “So fess up, what’s going on? You’ve been avoiding talking about him.”

That clearly wasn’t going to work any longer. I just wasn’t sure how to explain what was happening between us. The submission was wonderful and he loved driving me insane but he’d kept things focused on me and I wasn’t sure how to change that. “Because I don’t know what’s going on.”

Standing, I started pacing slowly around the room. “I like being around him and he’s sexy as fuck. He’s great at his job and even seems to truly enjoy managing me. But I’m just worried I’m taking advantage of him or something.”

And those conflicted emotions were probably why he’d been telling me we were going to take the full sex side of things slow.

Painfully slow.

Jonah snorted. “That man does not feel like he’s being taken advantage of.”

The first time they’d both worked on the same day, Jonah had gotten in a few minutes earlier than usual just to ogle Tristan. He hadn’t even made an attempt to hide it. He’d just introduced himself again and started pumping the guy for information. Tristan had taken it very well. I had a feeling he’d liked how possessive Jonah was about me.

“He’s only been working for you a week and a half, but if I had to guess, he likes taking care of a sub the same way Shane does Tanner. Shane likes managing his life and knowing that Tanner is taken care of. I think Tristan is just some kind of super Shane and likes it even more.” Jonah leaned against his desk, watching me. “Am I wrong?”

“That’s basically what he said. Well, minus the Shane specific stuff because he doesn’t know them that well yet.” Finally standing still in the middle of the room, I thought about what he’d said. “His parents are authors and it sounds like he had fun managing them as a kid. Basically, it sounds like he was the only real adult in the house at times.”

Jonah grinned. “After working for you, I have a feeling that’s an understatement.”

I snorted and got ready to tell him where to shove it, but he started talking before I could decide the best retort. “I’m serious. Stuff like that is formative. He knows he likes managing creative people and then you add the Dom stuff in and it just makes sense.”

Then he stopped and thought for a moment. “Do you think it will drive you crazy? I mean, I’ve always wanted a Dom who was very…involved in my life, you could say. You were always kind of vague about that.”

I shrugged. “I couldn’t imagine a Dom who would fit in with this part of my life.”

I looked around the room at the tall windows and brick walls that made up the space and smiled. “I thought I’d have to compartmentalize work life and sub life, but Tristan isn’t like that.”

“So you guys are serious?” Jonah straightened and moved closer.

“Um, I don’t know. Define serious?” I wasn’t sure if I was teasing or not. “He seems to be a great Dom. He balances pushing and backing off really well and he pays attention to my body language and my signals. And I like being around him.”

He nodded but pressed again. “What about dates and that side of things?”

“I’m not sure we’re dating.” I shrugged. “We’ve talked around that kind of stuff. I don’t know him well enough to have figured out that side of things yet.”

The closest we’d come to dating was a trip to the grocery store…and I was fairly certain that even in a BDSM relationship that didn’t count.

He grinned. “Only you could go from first meet to submitting without
