Dakota (Romance & Revolutions #5) - Shaw Montgomery Page 0,17

traditional perspective will help because we’re not negotiating a specific scene, but we’ll iron out a few things, and then as we continue, we’ll make more rules.”

That sounded easier to deal with.

“Okay.” It still felt a bit surreal, but I was starting to think it was really happening. “Now what?”

We’d gone over the business stuff like he’d said we would, but we’d barely touched on everything else. “Do we list out…topics like we did the business side of…this?”

My characters would’ve said it smoother, but somehow, I just ended up stumbling over myself. Maybe I’d try to be one of them at some point. They were sexy and cute. I’d rather be cute than awkward.

Tristan nodded, sitting straighter. Something in his body language or the way he was looking at me changed because he suddenly went from being admin Tristan to Dom Tristan…some people changed that effortlessly in my books, but I’d never seen anyone do it in real life.

Besides people like Russ and Shane, the only people I’d met who’d come close to being a real Dom had been rough and almost angry.

Tristan was nothing like that.

Maybe it was the stark contrast that made it all feel so unreal.

“We’re going to start off by discussing some basic limits and rules.” Even his voice had a subtle but commanding tone to it now. He wasn’t following anymore; something in him had made a seamless switch to leading without a thought.

That sounded like a logical plan and something I would have had my characters do. But before I could say that, Tristan already knew what he wanted. “Come here. You’re sexy behind that desk, but I want to talk to my submissive Dakota now, not my boss.”

Oh.

Standing was automatic, but it took a mental push to make my feet move. For some reason they seemed glued to the floor even though he was so temptingly close.

I had a real Dom in my house.

Not an asshole pretending to be one or a confused guy that thought I needed mental help. This was a live Dom who wanted to…well, he wanted to do something with me.

It was almost like catching Bigfoot in my backyard.

Ha, feet were moving.

When I was finally standing in front of him, I felt almost lightheaded. It was real…at least I hoped it was. If this was a weird dream because of a bad burrito I was never going to eat Mexican again.

Mexican.

That’s what I had for lunch.

If I was remembering details that had to mean this was real, right?

“Your brain is bouncing all over, isn’t it?” Tristan was looking up at me, but he felt huge and commanding as his gaze dragged down my body.

“Yes…Yes, Sir.” That was just so weird to say.

He smiled, but it was wicked and sent a shiver through me. “Then I’m going to have to help you with that.”

It sounded wickedly wonderful but didn’t help my brain slow down.

He took one of the little pillows Jonah had decorated the couch with and placed it on the floor by his feet. “Kneel for me.”

Oh, that was a good way to turn off my brain.

Everything came to a skidding halt as I focused on the small fluffy square that looked so innocent but represented so much. “Yes, Sir.”

That seemed to be the only phrase that worked in my head at the moment because even thinking of kneeling made everything go funny. Tristan must have thought something was up because he started to speak, but I shook my head. “I’m sorry. It’s just…but I’ve got it.”

Yep, nuts.

At least that was more words, though.

He nodded patiently and let me take a breath before I made my legs obey.

Fuck. I was kneeling.

And not in an I’ve dropped something under the couch and have to crouch down to get it kind of way. This was real kneeling.

Forcing my body to still as I came to rest on the pillow, I let out the breath I was holding and set my hands on my legs before looking up at him. He’d tell me what he wanted. All I had to do was listen and obey. That was how this was supposed to work.

Remembering that made it easier to relax.

I just hoped he knew that part too, though.

He did.

“Widen your legs more.” He leaned forward until he was just inches from me. “You’re already beautiful, but I want your body to always be open for me.”

Fuck. That was hot.

“Yes, Sir.” When I’d obeyed, I saw his smile and something in me quieted even
