I put my foot in my mouth there, Jojo,” Gianna whispered. “I’m famous for it. Something up with you and him?”
I gave her big eyes and put my drink to my lips.
She gave me a knowing look and clamped her mouth shut.
Jesse turned up for her, “Gigi.” She looked up at him and beamed a big smile. “Dance,” he said, and she gleefully went with him.
He gave me a smile and a wink as they walked by.
“Later, Jojo,” she said and gave me a big smile, too.
“Way to go on scoring such a delicious man, girl,” I said, standing up and giving her a high five.
She beamed even brighter as he took her into his arms and put his mouth to hers sweetly before spinning her around and dipping her a little.
I couldn’t help the huge smile on my face. I saw Christian at the bar, continuing to watch me, looking like he smelled something foul.
My smile died and I turned. I turned directly into the arms of Shane Stubbs who was directly beside our booth.

“Oh!” I exclaimed. ”You.”
“Me,” he agreed. “Wanna dance?” His green eyes sparkled as he tightened the grip on my hips.
“Um…”
He used the hands on the hips to his advantage and before I had a chance to get away, he’d moved us to the dance floor and was pulling me to him.
Rider had Jenna real close to me and he glared at Stubbs, who failed at ignoring it but yet gracefully moved us away from Rider, bringing us closer to where Christian was.
“All grown up?” Shane asked.
“All patched up?” This had a double meaning since he’d obviously gotten his member patch as well as had to be patched up after being beaten up by my brother. “In more ways than one?” I added.
“Been patched up for a while,” he said.
“Yup.”
”And totally worth the scar,” he added, scratching his eyebrow where I was guessing he might have had a scar.
I winced.
“It’s all good. You good?” he asked.
I’d seen him around plenty in the past few years, but he’d kept his distance after that incident, of course. And it wasn’t difficult to do since our Sioux Falls chapter was a big one with a lot of members. We only had two dozen or so here in Aberdeen but last count, Sioux Falls had more than fifty.
“I am,” I said as he got a little closer. I was trying to keep a respectable distance, but he was doing his best to do the opposite.
“Think one of your brothers would kill me if I asked you out?” he asked.
“One? Maybe all of them’d brawl arguing over which one got to do it. And… we don’t live in the same town, Stubbs.”
“No, but Sioux Falls ain’t exactly a million miles away. There’s gonna be plenty of time for us to see one another what with everything goin’ on right now. Club’s tightening up. Lots of presence at different chapters with all that shit goin’ on with the enemy. I’ll be here a few times over the next few weeks and there’s the rally comin’ up. Gonna be a good time. I’d love to have you on the back of my bike for that. Who knows, maybe I’ll jump chapters. Hearin’ good things from the brothers who’ve moved here to ride with your father.”
I snickered. “You and I have a history of three minutes against a wall before one of my brothers nearly ripped your face off and…”
“Because you were underage, which, in my defence, I didn’t know. And believe me, as a prospect under your whole family, I paid for it with more than a scar. There were a lot of fuckin’ dirty jobs and I did every single one without complainin’ or I’d never have earned my patch. You forget your dad was VP when that went down?”
“Not only because of the underage thing, but also because I’m me. My brothers are all still insanely protective. Plus, when I go to rallies, I’m on my own hog.”
