Crossroads (Beautiful Biker MC Romance Series) - DD Prince Page 0,131

eyes on me. He had short blond hair, was clean shaven and had brown eyes instead of blue but the family resemblance was definitely there.

We stepped in holding hands and Christian closed the door.

I was in jeans and a nice aqua blouse with high-heeled blue suede booties, my hair loose and I’d gone light on the makeup. Christian’s hair was in a bun and he was in his usual uniform of leather cut with a long-sleeved t-shirt and jeans with motorcycle boots. Today’s t-shirt was an Iron Maiden one.

It felt all kinds of awkward for a second, so I decided to help.

“I’m Jojo. Nice to meet you.” I grabbed his mom and hugged her.

I didn’t know if it was okay to do that, didn’t know a thing about her, really, but one look at her and I felt like I should.

She was startled. “Oh my goodness, you’re beautiful,” she said. Her eyes were wet. She was tall and I could see that in her pink scrubs, she was athletic. I saw beauty though she did have a lot of lines around her eyes, like she’d spent a lot of time worried.

“Thank you. I see where my man got his gorgeous blue eyes from. I’m sorry we’re keeping you up, though. Christian said you work in a hospital?”

“I do. Emergency department. And that’s okay. It’s worth a few hours of sleep to get to meet you and see my baby. It’s worth way more than that. Just a moment. I’ll get my mother’s jewelry box.”

Christian and his brother stood staring at one another.

“Jonny,” Christian said.

“Chris.”

They stood there for a minute.

“Hi,” I said and threw my arms around Christian’s brother.

“Jonathan Forker. Good to meet you,” he said. “She’s beautiful man. I see she’s got it inside, too. Written all over her.”

I smiled. “I’m heaven-sent.”

Jonathan laughed.

Christian didn’t. I noticed that he didn’t hug either of them. He just stood in the doorway, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.

“Ma put on coffee and I brought donuts. Come sit down, guys.”

It was a nice apartment. Not very big but tidy and with nice comfortable furniture, art on the walls. I saw a framed eight by ten of Christian and his brother as little guys, maybe two and four years old or so.

“Oh wow,” I pointed. “Look at wee little baby Christian.”

Christian rolled his eyes. His brother chuckled.

Jolene returned with an antique jewelry box in her hands.

She sat at the smoked glass dining table covered with an ivory lace tablecloth and opened it, then handed Christian a ring box.

Jonathan brought us each a mug of coffee and then went back to the kitchen and returned with milk and sugar plus a spoon, setting them down on the table beside the box of donuts, which he then opened.

Christian opened the ring box just enough to see inside and then snapped it shut and stuck it in his pocket.

I prepped my coffee and fetched a coconut donut. “Ooh, yummy.”

“So, tell us about you, Jojo,” Jonathan invited.

“I’m in love with your brother,” I started.

“This surly fucker?” Jonathan quipped.

The left side of Christian’s mouth went up just a little.

“Yep. That’s how I like them,” I said, leaning forward.

Jonathan laughed.

“I’m off for the summer but I’m in school studying to be a teacher. I work part-time with my family’s business.”

“Yeah? Doing?”

“We have a bar, a bike dealership and a garage. I help between the bar and the dealership and sometimes do a bit of the books for the garage. I bounce where I’m needed.”

“You’re the calendar girl!” He pointed with astonishment.

“Fuck. Me.” Christian put his hand to his face.

My eyes bulged. Oh shit.

“Yeah, I thought you looked familiar. You’re the MC president’s daughter, too. Fuckin’ eh, Christoff.” He raised his palm in a high five gesture. “Hit me, bro.”

“I’ll fuckin’ hit ya,” Christian warned.

Jonathan laughed and grabbed a donut.

Jolene’s eyes bounced worriedly between her boys.

“The calendar modeling is for charity. Our club has a teen mentoring program and that’ll raise money for it. My family weren’t too happy about it, but I thought it was a good idea. Your brother isn’t too happy either.”

Christian made a grumble sound.

I bit my lip and looked into his eyes. He stared at me with irritation and kissed my hand that was on his thigh and then put it back on his leg. I felt my face go pink.

“Oh. I saw something about that on the news. Saw Chris so I saved it to the DVR. I was so happy to see
