Crossroads (Beautiful Biker MC Romance Series) - DD Prince Page 0,124

and I was helpless to do anything about it. I tried. You fuckin’ know I tried. Tried to convince her I was a piece of shit and she should do better.”

Both of their heads turned to look at me.

“Joelle?” my father demanded, flames shooting out of his eyes.

“It’s true. I pursued him relentlessly. I refused to give up. You know me.” I found Kleenex in the truck and shakily passed it to Christian, who was still bleeding from his nose.

“And she hooked me and now, I refuse to give her up. We’re packin’ up for Vegas now. I want your blessing. Want everyone we care about there with us when we make our promises to each other.” He finally wiped his nose.

Spencer and Ella were heading our way from the dealership, Spencer taking long strides and Ella full-out running.

“What’s goin’ on?” Spence demanded.

“I’m gonna marry your sister. We ride out today to Sin City. Want you all to fly out this weekend and be there.”

Ella stared at me with her mouth wide open. And then she stared at him with her mouth wide open. She was a cartoon caricature of herself standing there in shock, hed twisting back and forth. She then looked at Deacon with shock and accusation. “You knew!”

“You get to be family to me twice,” I told her.

She shook off a daze and then gasped and immediately threw her arms around me and squeezed.

“Oh my God,” she whispered.

She let go of me and then she threw her arms around Christian, who was still wiping his nose. That made me choke on tears.

Ella was crying, too.

My father stood there with his arms folded across his chest, a look of murder on his face. He said nothing.

Christian let go of Ella and messed up her hair. She punched him in the arm. Hard. He winced and laughed at the same time. Then his expression went serious as he looked back to my father. Spencer and Rider stood there, too, mirroring Dad in stance and expression.

Deacon, standing off to the side, not quite smiling but almost smiling, stepped forward.

“Congratulations, brother, little sister. I will absolutely fucking be there.” He shook Christian’s hand and then hugged me.

I was shocked at the turn of events with Deacon. Truly. My guess? He knew Christian was a good man and wanted him for me. I’d go so far as to say that Deacon would hand-pick Christian for me knowing he was fiercely protective and refused to put up with shit from anyone.

“Prez?” Christian asked.

“You sure?” Dad ignored him and asked me.

“Completely,” I told him. I looked to Rider. “Ride?”

Rider’s eyes moved from being hard on Christian to soft, on me. He said nothing, though.

“I love him,” I said. “Daddy? Boys? This man is the kind of man who deserves a good life, a good woman. You want that for a brother, don’t you?” I leaned against Christian and he put his arm around me.

They said nothing, so I continued. “You trusted him to help fight the Jackals war. You trusted him to become a brother to you, and club members vow to protect the club, the family. You’ve already given Christian the go-ahead to protect me by giving him his patch. And he’s saved my life twice already. Twice! Who better to look out for your little girl every single day?”

Spencer stepped up and held his hand out. Christian took it. Spency pulled him into a hug. “She’s right. Shit’s gonna fly with that calendar, brother.”

“Why you think I’m puttin’ a ring on her finger so fast?” Christian grunted.

Spence’s shoulders shook with silent laughter. “Really fuckin’ glad it’s your problem now, instead of mine.”

I laughed. “I love that calendar. And this is like sending me to a nunnery, Dad, except this way you’ll get grandkids out of it, too.”

Deacon smirked. I smiled wide at him.

Dad still had a dark look on his face. Rider was licking his teeth behind his lips with his eyes on my man. It was a long moment of silence and it felt like my heart was beginning to splinter that they were acting like this.

And then Ride’s expression changed, and he moved in and gave my man a hug. Christian slapped his back.

“Don’t make me kill you, brother,” Rider said and slapped Christian’s back.

“Ride!” I snapped.

“She’s a pain in my ass, man. I might be beggin’ you to end me before long.”

I hauled off and socked Christian in the gut. He didn’t even flinch. Everyone laughed except Dad.

Rider smirked
