Crossroads (Beautiful Biker MC Romance Series) - DD Prince Page 0,103

draw unnecessary fuckin’ attention right now,” he warned, his hand clapping my ass cheek sharply.

“What? This isn’t going to draw attention?” I demanded breathlessly. ”Carrying a girl away from a bar and spanking her? How about you follow me in that bar and sit down and have an actual conversation with me?”

He stood me in front of my bike. “Because the bar you picked is a former fuckin’ Jackals hangout.”

“It’s what?” My attitude disappeared with the ground under me as my knees wobbled.

“It’s the closest bar to the old clubhouse. I step foot in there, the phones’ll be ringing in multiple places where our enemies could be. Get on your bike and get the fuck home.”

Shit.

“Now,” he growled.

“I’m not going home until we talk. Where are we doing that?”

His nostrils flared.

“Get on your bike and go home. Get under those fuckin’ leopard print tiger striped blankets with the frills on ‘em with your fuckin’ polka dot socks and set your sights higher than a blue-collar man with a patch on his back.”

Well that was a mouthful.

“You don’t get to tell me what kind of man is right for me, Christian.”

He growled at me and I fought the urge to kiss him.

“We’re talking. Where?”

He glared at me. “You’re a stubborn bitch, aren’t you?”

“I am stubborn, yes. But call me a bitch again and I’ll show you what a bitch truly is.”

He almost smiled. Almost.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket, did something on the screen, and then casually said, “Follow me then.”

I gave him a nod and put my helmet and gloves on.

He got on his bike and I did the same. I followed him down a side street and through a series of other semi-rural residential streets, zigzagging across several backroads until we got to an old and rolling dirt road which we were on for what felt like forever. Finally, he stopped behind a ramshackle shed with boarded up windows.

I got my helmet off. “What is this?”

“The back forty of the old Jackals clubhouse property. What the fuck is wrong with you, woman?”

“Um, could you have picked a worse place? And you’re what’s wrong with me,” I told him. “And this game you’re playing is bullshit.”

“What game am I playin’?”

“The pretending that you don’t want to be with me game.”

“Get it through your head. This won’t work.”

“Why?”

He glared at me.

“Gotta burst that bubble, and tell ya… wantin’ to fuck you and wanting to be with you are two different things, jellybean. Already fucked you, so I’m good.”

“Liar,” I spat.

He flinched and stared at the sky.

“Fucking liar,” I hissed.

“Go home, babe.”

“Why, Christian? Why are you fighting this when we both know you want it? You want it almost as bad as I do.”

“Or more than you do,” he said soberly.

It was my turn to flinch.

“That building there? I’ve killed men in there.” He gestured with his chin to the shed.

I jolted just a little, enough that he saw it.

“I’ve also used this backroad to run drugs, guns, dead bodies, hostages, stolen goods, and other shit in and outta here.”

“I’m not a stranger to the outlaw biker life, Christian. Our club is mostly clean but only mostly. Don’t think I haven’t seen shit over the years. Besides, you’re not one of them; you’re one of us. You just did what you had to do until there was an opening to become who you really are.”

He stared at me and the way he did it… if I wasn’t mistaken, maybe those words rocked his stubborn world just a teeny tiny bit.

“Yeah,” I continued. “I know this. I know who you are in there.” I put my hand to his chest. “You only did all that shit,” I jerked my free thumb back toward the shed, “because of your father, because you were stuck.”

He curled his lip at me and didn’t answer.

“What matters to me is not just who you are now because who you had to be to get you to the brotherhood is a fierce person who refused to continue to do what he felt was wrong.”

His eyes closed. “We gotta go. Not feelin’ safe here.” He glanced at his phone.

I was aching for him to grab me and put his mouth on me. I was desperate to get through to him.

“I didn’t know it at the time but didn’t take me long to figure out why you pulled that alarm and that too tells me a lot about who you are, Christian.”

“Leave me be, woman. Go home.” He said
