“What?” Is he talking about me not touching him? I agree, it’s not fair at all.
“You have magic. You went into the bathroom and came out like you spent an hour getting ready. I’m sure my hair is going in fourteen different directions and I’m still in sleep pants.”
“Want me to magic you ready, too?” I have to get used to being able to use my magic whenever and wherever I want. No time like the present to help me adjust to it.
“Yes, please. I’d like a pair of comfy yet fitting jeans and a short-sleeved, white T-shirt. And maybe hair that looks a little tamer.” I chuckle. It’s like he’s ordering a meal at a drive-thru.
Before I do as he asks, I lean forward and run my fingers through his hair. My lips are a breath away from his. “For the record, I like you this way.”
Cam pulls me down and onto his lap. I go willingly. There’s no way I’m going to object to feeling his hard body pressed against mine. His hands find my hips and work their way over my butt. I shiver at the feeling of those big palms on me.
Of course, the moment his lips are about to touch mine the door to the room flies open. Cam and I both whip our heads toward it and find Solomon Verascue filling the space.
“Happy Thanksgiving!” Sol runs in and jumps onto the bed, settling beside us. “Look at you two. All cute and fresh with your connection.” He sighs wistfully. “I remember what it was like when my kitten and I finally discovered who we were to each other. It was wonderful but not nearly as earth-shattering as when we first mated. The feel of her hot, tight body—”
“Enough!” Cam yells. “Do you think I want to hear about when you and Lilah finally got it on?”
“Absolutely. Who wouldn’t? We’re both sexy as hell. You’ve seen us. It would be like free porn where you can recall the visual whenever you need to.” He waggles his eyebrows.
“Get out of here,” Cam growls.
“Dinner is in ten minutes. Cassie wanted me to tell everyone who hasn’t made their way downstairs yet.”
“I can’t believe she sent you as the messenger.”
“It was only to get him out of her hair,” Lilah states from the door. Jupiter smiles in her arms. “Leave them be, Sol.”
“But, kitten,” he whines. “Look how cute they are together. I want to eat them up.” He turns to us. “Not in the fangs in your neck kind of way, although I wouldn’t be opposed to gifting either of you my powers. I’m building a legion of Solomon Verascue paranormals. Ones who have my abilities and go out to spread the amazingness of my name for the world to see. Well, the paranormal world, that is. We don’t need humans finding out about us. That reminds me, are you two planning on showing up at dinner as a couple? I think most of the pack already knows by now. I’m pretty loud and the door is open, so if they didn’t before, they probably did the second I came in here to talk to both of you.”
“Sol!” Lilah shouts. “Get the hell out of their bed and take your daughter. I want you downstairs, sitting at the table, and shoving some sort of food into your mouth so you shut the fate up.”
“Jeez, kitten, way to burst my bubble.” Sol rolls over to get out of bed. Turning, he winks. “I’ll see you two at dinner.” Then he’s striding out of the room and closing the door behind them.
I stare at the door as his words settle over me. He’s right. Most of the pack probably knows by now that I’m in here with Camden. That I’m gay. It shouldn’t be a big deal. I know it won’t be to any of them. After all, Sawyer and Gage are a mated couple and no one says anything to them. Cam is bisexual and so is Sol. It’s different when it comes to me. I wish it weren’t. It’s in my head and not on anyone else but me. Dinner isn’t going to be easy but hopefully it will be freeing, too. Maybe it’s better this way. It saves me from having to say anything. I just wish I could get out of my head.
Cam’s hand on my cheek brings my attention back to him. Concern is evident in his eyes. “Are you okay?”
