Crave (His Second Chance with Heiress Bryn Christmas Duet #1) - Z.L. Arkadie Page 0,34

jumped into my throat, and need gripped my pussy. Jamison delicately pinched my lower lip before leaning over to suck it into his moist and delicious mouth. Then he softly consumed my tongue. I moaned into his mouth before turning my face to cease our kissing. My desire for him was becoming more than I could bear.

“I can’t be your assistant anymore,” he whispered, his lips remaining near the side of my face. “It was hard not being able to kiss you whenever I wanted. And since we are an item, I can kiss you whenever I want, right?”

I smiled, and my head felt dizzy as I closed my eyes to consider what he’d just said. “We’re an item?”

“It’s what I want. Is it what you want?”

I nodded and turned back toward his mouth. “Mmm…” He smelled divine, and the warmth emanating from his skin put me in a daze. Like magnets, our mouths merged.

Knock, knock, knock.

I jumped and pressed my hand over my heart as we both looked to see Dale standing at Jamison’s window. “What the hell’s wrong with this guy?” Jamison muttered as he calmly rolled down the window. He turned to Dale. “What?”

Dale leaned to the side so that he could get a look at me, but Jamison shifted, blocking his view. “You have to drive out so I can close the gate,” Dale said.

“That it?”

Dale remained quiet and leaned over far enough to where Jamison’s shoulder would have hit the window if he’d tried to block Dale’s view of me. “Bryn, I just wanted to say I’m sorry. That’s all.” He hustled away from Jamison’s side of the vehicle.

Dale’s apology caught us both off guard. He’d been such a dick earlier. Jamison and I stared at each other for several seconds and then laughed uncontrollably.

“What a day this has been,” I said once we’d simmered down a bit.

“It’s been unusual, that’s for sure.” He checked over his shoulder. “Let’s get the hell off the property before Eden jumps in front of the car butt naked.”

I could totally picture her doing that, which made me laugh all over again.

Finally, we were on the road and heading back to the resort. Jamison had been caught in his own thoughts for a while. I wondered if he wanted to take back his affirmation of the two of us being an item. He appeared more sober with his eyes glued to the road. He was holding my hand while maneuvering the steering wheel with his other hand, but he was leaning away from me.

“How long were you with that guy again?” Jamison asked out of the blue.

I sighed with relief. At least I knew what had been on his mind. “A long time.”

Jamison glanced at me then set his eyes back on the road. “How long is a long time?”

“I was sixteen when I met Dale. We had a strange off-and-on relationship. My father didn’t approve of him.”

“But what did Jasper think of him?”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “Why do you ask?”

“Isn’t he the one who’s always called the shots in your family?”

My frown deepened. “Did you learn that from the book?”

“Some, but everybody knows that. You don’t fuck with Jasper Christmas. That’s probably why, as wealthy as you are, you’re able to fly commercial.”

My neck jutted forward. “What does that mean?”

Jamison did a double take. “Come on, Bryn. You come from a gold mine. You never worry about being kidnapped for ransom?”

The thought of that made my heart bounce in my chest. “No. Why would you say that? I mean, I can’t be afraid of anything like that. It takes my freedom away. And I need to be free.” I was worked up into a frenzy.

Jamison squeezed my hand tighter. “Babe, I didn’t mean to upset you that way. And you don’t have to worry about that kind of danger, because everybody in the fucking world knows your brother’s vicious.”

I gasped. “Jasper’s not vicious.” I had to come to my brother’s defense, although I knew Jasper could be brutal if pushed.

Jamison stretched his neck from side to side as if he was troubled about something.

“What is it?” I asked.

After a long pause, he shook his head. “How about we drop the conversation about your brother?” A smile came to his eyes first and then his lips as he let go of my hand to softly flick my chin. “I didn’t mean to offend you, darling.”

His tone was sweet and sincere. I knew he meant it. “And I
